Renting out my house for Ryder Cup 2010

  • I have decided to try and rent my house and going to stay with a friend for this period. I live in Penarth. I have advertised my property on the site ryderpropertyrentals.co.uk as they charge a reasonable fee compared to some of the others and don't have lots of competition on there for rentals. Also they have let some of their properties, which the other sites don't appear to have done. I did a lot of research before deciding how to advertise it. Thought it was worth the risk of £50.00 for a good return. Good luck to all considering this. :j

Thanks for the feedback. How are you sure they've actually let some ogf their properties though?
  • I'm still undecided about which one to use. If you do a search for ryder cup accomodation on google then 4 or 5 come up on the 1st page.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone whos actually sucessfully rented out their house on one of these sites....

    Hi paulfoel

I'm still very concerned about this thread. I hope to be proved wrong, obviously, as Ryder Cup rentals could provide some moneysavers with good earnings, but I find it very strange that reports of confirmed rentals are seemingly nonexistent. Of all places, surely this would be the forum that people would post of their successful rentals?!?

I haven't even found any threads on other forums relating to previous Ryder Cup house rentals. Please, please, no-one part with any money until some concrete evidence presents itself.

Yeh. I want some evidence first.

It'd be a nice little earner to set up a website, charge £100 a go, and do absolutely nothing to promote it.

I have just listed my house on accommodationforthe event.com. Was very easy to do, upload photos and it can be edited whenever you want.

The house is in Filton, Bristol, £9,500 for 2 weeks, 20 mins from the Celtic Manor and 5 mins from J20 of the M4. If you are interested take a look.

    Hi All,

Ive been following this thread for a long time and have had people interested in booking my house as previously stated. However I spoke to a guy who was recomended to me by the Celtic Mannor. Firstly he said I only deal with properties worth more than £500,000 secondly he told me that all of these sites are basically no hopes. You may get lucky but the prices people are asking are unrealistic. I have a large 5 bedroom house set in an acre of land with many facilities including sauna, hot tub etc and he told me I could ask max £300 per person per night with the average price for a nice 4 bed house would be £150. I was obviously disapointed with this due to all the hype. Hes now going to try to market my house to potential clients and hes not even charging a fee unlike all the sites.

Don't want to be a kill joy but people keep saying no 1 seems to be booked and he also told us that hotels such as the hilton in bristol is still available! Good luck all

There aren't many houses worth more than £500,000 in Newport!

Mine is an Edwardian bay-fronted townhouse with 5 bedrooms and a view... I was told it would have to be immaculately furnished / decorated (which it isn't yet) but there's no reason for it to be considered unlettable once refurbished.

So would I , There is a clear need for accommodation especially with the 1200 marshals /volunteers / catering workers using the park and ride near usk. All inbound enquiries and current bookings are for rooms , max small party of 4 with prices £70 - £120 per person. The number of enquiries for larger properties is zero. Having read a few forums lately, a number of folks have heard about their ticket allocations , in most cases they may only have tickets for one day etc.

The track record form the Belfry event is that over priced whole properties didn't get taken up.
  • Yes, the prices seem a bit high.

Can't help getting carried away by it all... some of the prices are unrealistic!
