I've heard rumours that the going rate is £2K-£3K per person accomodated for the 10 day event. Also, heard of companies paying for a florida holiday for you as well.
I live in Rogerstone. 20 mins from the course !!!! :-)0 -
Trouble is that there are so many companies charging £100+ to advertise your house. How do you know which ones are genuinely going to get you business?
Strangely, the rates on dunbar2010.com are much lower than everywhere else. Makes me think this is the real deal rather some of the other more inflated prices...0 -

They charge commission, £100.00 to advertise plus £100.00 in commission, shop fronts in the uk are not much good to advertise around the world, the internet is the best medium.
I paid £79.99 at www.rydercuphomerental.co.uk check it out for your self, of all the sites i visited this one had a good flow and look and feel.
The internet is the best advertising medium as long as the search engines are updated frequently.
I have had 2 contacts already but nothing secured as yet, still theres a couple of years yet....0 -

Yeh, they're website looks a bit better than some of the others...
Trouble is they dont seem to have a huge amount of properties listed...
Note, www.accomodationfortheevent.com comes out top in a google search for 'ryder cup 2010 accomodation'0 -

true but its early days, and if theres too much choice people will get bored with searching page after page of properties, its all about first impressions especially for the american market, the bigger the better.
The site you mention above has more properties but i am still getting people asking about my house list on rydercuphomerental, plus they were very helpfull when it came to advertising my house and answering a couple of questions from potention customers.
I guess its not all about quantity, but quality advertising that counts...0 -

I have secured a booking for my house. I advertised under the £2k per person sharing price though. I placed my 5 bed on accommodationfortheevent.com firstly because I saw them in the "Greens and Dreams" Golf magazine. Secondly they are naturally top ranked on Google for 90-95% of all terms, not just the one you mentioned. And thirdly even the "One Show" on BBC thought they were the best as they only really predominantly showed the accommodation for the event site website. I found this on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSPId6P7uRw
This website does its job and I am very happy with our outcome - here are some stats on their 2006 page: http://www.accommodationfortheevent.com/rydercup/2006/0 -
Hi all, I've been tempted, and have discussed it briefly with my OH and with Alix Popham's company who were quite helpful and not extortionate.
To those who are going ahead or have already got bookings, how have you handled insurance and tax issues? I've heard that a lot of insurance companies refuse to cover for this kind of thing, although I haven't yet asked mine.
Cheers and good luck with the rentals!0
