I saw mention in "Money Mail" in The Daily Mail today that they apparently CLOSE THE ACCOUNT if you make more than 12 withdrawals.
I would believe that to be true, based on this below. ( U would think that closure after 12 withdrawals should be explicity stated.)
Only words i have seen is that "only 12 withdrawals are permitted per account year".0 -
Like some of the other West Brom accounts, the Star Easy Access can be run as a branch based account or a postal one.
If you open it at a branch, you get a passbook and transactions must then be carried out at any branch. If it's opened remotely, all transactions are via the post and/or telephone - no passbook is issued.
This was not apparent to me, until I tried to do a transfer at a branch between 2 accounts - one of which was a direct account. Needless to say, I wasn't allowed to do the transfer. :sad:0 -

Yes me too. Up to now I am not that impressed although they were 'on the ball' when I opened another account last year. I have telephoned now 6 times and still haven't got through (Yes I know its an 0845 number) I emailed on Monday and a response said they would get back to me within 48 hours which also hasn't happened. Not looking good. I know the excuse will be they have been really busy with this account, but should they not be prepared? Sally0 -
I opened mine at a branch. They had to print out an application form as they had none left due to "overwhelming demand".Debbie0

Yes they said this when I rang up about them. I don't like sending cheques in the post either with ID details. Much prefer to transfer online to set up an account. As I am based in Scotland I can't go into a branch to open this account. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi,
I posted a little earlier today regarding this account and have just had a call from the West Bromwich. Although the return call didn't materialise when they said it would, I have to say the CSA was very knowledgeable and polite. He went on to say they have been inundated with applications, so much so, that there is a strong possibility this account will be withdrawn next week. So, all you savers out there who are still 'dilly dallying' it seems as though time in running out! Sally0 -
My application was sent on the 12th Feb, received on the 16th Feb and is still waiting for "processing".
However I did speak to a very helpful woman called Samantha, and she did confirm the above.
Chelsea who I had similar issues with delays in processing applications couldn't tell me if my letter had been received or not!Nothing to see here :beer:0 -
I applied for a West Brom account 2 weeks ago and sent a cheque for £1 with my form. I have still heard nothing, my cheque has not been banked, and when I have tried calling them I am either told to call a different number or kept on hold for so long that I give up.
I have no idea what has happened, but have no intention of depositing any more money in a West Brom account, even if it is eventually opened - apart from anything else, I don't trust them to deposit immediately any cheque I might send them for a larger amount; if they sat on it for days or weeks that would cancel out any profit from a slightly higher interest rate. I would rather earn a little less interest and stick with ICICI, where I know what I am getting (and my experience with them has actually been fairly positive).0
