Until someone more techie posts I think part of the problem is when you edit your signature in your UserCP it is counting your 5 lines as they show in that little box and not when they display on the forum, if you see what I mean? (although a new line should be when you hit return) Its difficult for me to test as I don't have the same restriction but do remember that smillies will take up more characters and especially the "eek" smillie takes up 2/3 lines.
I'll pm sra and see if he can help you on this thread.0 -

I'm leaving mine until they amend the rules to allow me to include at least the info on the three challenges I'm involved in.
I deleted all of this earlier
TOTO & JACKS DEC 2008 HEAD TO HEAD CHALLENGE 10% DFW NERD 658 / LONG HAULERS 25 / DFD MARCH 2009
'Work for those who can, security for those who cannot.' Yeah right Mr Brown :mad:Then I abbreviated everything, removed as many words as possible and removed all spaces - which left this unreadable mess:G.C.Sept£500£311.43 Oct£400£361.69Nov£35£244.94Dec£455£440.32Jan£300£239.58Feb£250 LIVEON£10,000NO67£1131.19/£8868.81but evidently it was still too big for the new ruling.
I'm partially sighted so I can't read tiny fontsAnd my sig is my daily moneysaving motivation. It's impossible to know what's going on all over this site but I've joined all kinds of challenges just cos I saw them in someone else's sig.Gordon Brown diatribe aside
I think my sig is all relevant. (I only put that on three days ago when they government told my dad to quit his p/t driving job or they'd take his Incapacity Benefit away - and I'd probably calm down and remove it in a few days anyway.)
I'm really peed off with the change and quite surprised that Martin has told people to leave if they don't like it in post 42 of this thread:Quote:

I edited my sig when I first read about the restrictions, and got it down to something that appeared acceptable. However, I didn't post anything, so I couldn't try it.
I've just tried editing my sig now, but haven't changed anything, and it said it was unacceptable. I'm posting this to test what I have at the moment, although it looks like my next sig update will have to be a serious edit!
Edit: the serious edit of my sig has now taken place, so that I can update the meaningful entries. It used to be multi-coloured, but is now all black. It has also been shrunk to 4 lines, as 5 lines was unacceptable.0 -
I think everyone's getting a bit too stressed over this, they are pretty common place rules for a forum. There's no need to have a massive amount of info in your signature.
Keep it to the main figures, people will see your totals and check your diaries for the updates, that's what I always do when I notice someone's updated. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
I agree Gemmzie other forums I am on have had smaller sig boxes for years, and it does improve things much easier to pick out the message rather than have to read through loads of crap that really only means something to the individual - hence it being a sig!!0

I agree with you guys - I don't have a problem reducing it (although that's the problem with having a hell of a lot of debt, and doing a lot of challenges - what bits do you miss out?!), it's just the difficulties in doing it.
Gemmzie & Rayday, have both of yours updated this evening without any problem? You've both got quite a bit of info in there and a few colour changes etc, but I can't get it to save any of my revisions, even if I take loads out.0 -
well i dropped one of my challenges and all seems fine now :j
maybe not ~ i try and change the colours and i get
:wall: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:- Your signature can not be longer than 1000 characters including BBCode markup.
 - Your signature contains too many lines and must be shortened. You may only have up to 5 line(s).
