  • Hi - I am still 2childmum, but somehow got logged out, and now realise that my old log in was an old email address, which I can no longer access, and as I couldn't remember my password I've had to create a new account.
The scarf and the elephant are now both finished, and I've also crocheted a bowl for my daughter's desk

I did start knitting a jumper with a basketweave pattern, but decided I didn't really like it. I had a look for another pattern (thank you for the suggestions of the Ravelry site) but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for, so I've started just a straight forward stocking stitch jumper, but I'm bored with it already, so I reckon it will take forever to knit, and then I probably won't wear it!

I've been looking at the Innocent smoothie hats - not very easy just to print out with all the colour and borders! I tried cutting and pasting a couple of the crochet patterns, and very weirdly ended up with some lines from a knitting pattern in between the crochet pattern when I pasted it! I've managed to do a couple now, but it was a lot more hassle than I had anticipated.

I loved the ad campaign for season ticket sales back with the Addicks were first promoted: "See Premier League football every week and watch your team play live once a year".

Welcome back 2childmum. Re the email/password thing, do you now have an account that isn't linked to work or your internet or phone provider? If not, then it's worth opening one because it means you will always be able to access your data. Both Google and Yahoo offer free email which have a setting to forward email received to any valid email address (and Yahoo will keep forwarded email saved on their server).

I keep a list of password clues in my email notes on line. Not the entire password but a clue like "Dad's car's registration number, first letter capitalised and a £ at the end". It helps.

Ahhh.... The Black Hole of Knitting, when your work takes forever and doesn't seem to grow at all. May I suggest that, each time you sit down to knit, you place a safety-pin in the middle of the first row that you knit and then, at the end of the session, you measure how far you knitted? It helps and it will grow far faster than you thought possible.

Sooner you than me. I know Innocent donate money to charity for each hat but, given that I have limited knitting time, I'd rather knit for me/my family.

  • My old email address was a tesco one, and they no longer provide an email service. Being permanently logged on here I had forgotten to change my email address (although I have changed it for the weekly email). I do have a system for remembering passwords, but it seemed to fail me this time!

I like the idea of using a safety pin to see how far I've knitted. I'm also alternating knitting a row with my jobs around the house, so hopefully it will start to grow a bit more

I want to have some knitting and some crochet on the go at the same time, but I don't want two big projects, hence the innocent hat idea. But DD now wants another little basket for her desk, so I think I will start that instead. That sits by my bed, and I do little bits of it before I go to sleep, or if I happen to be upstairs with a few minutes to spare.

I saw a great book in a charity shop the other day with examples of lots of different stitches / patterns and how to do them. I reckon if you could find a site you might find something you like the look of.

Ooooh look ... here and here. You'd need to do a tension square with some of these, and some of them might need a particular number of stitches, but you could always have a stocking stitch bit at the side?

I didn't buy that book, but I did get one with lots of finishing techniques which looks jolly useful!

  • Those sites look great - thank you. I had been looking for patterns for whole jumpers, but with no luck. I have already knitted a fair bit in stocking stitch - maybe I could add a stripe of something more interesting if I can get the tension correct!

I've been looking in charity shops for craft books for a while, but no luck. The local library is pretty useless too, but I might check out the larger one in the next town.

The Works is usually a good one for craft books

    Hi to all,
    How's your stitching going?

I'm just finishing off a cuff on a shawl cardi bolero type experimental thing and then attempting some slipper socks on the loom, then I'm making a back piece for a vest cardigan\gilet that I've done the large piece for.

Not sure what I'll move onto after that LOL

I finally finished the second set of hand-warmers without having to unpick any of the first one to finish off the second!

I have a chemo hat almost done, just need to decide how many pattern repeats to do because they'd like it not fitting too close to the head, and then it's back to the mohair cardigan which I hope I can get to grips with again! I'm a bit worried that I won't know which front / sleeve is left and which is right: at least one is finished, and all the main parts are complete up to where the shaping starts in earnest. Then it's the picking-up-stitches for the button / buttonhole band performance ...

I was sorry I hadn't finished it for yesterday: it would have gone PERFECTLY with DS3's graduation garb! Or clashed dreadfully, always hard to know ...

I am looking for ‘reasonably’ priced dish cloth cotton.....it seems to have gone up in price since the last time I bought some!

Any suggestions will be very welcome!

    Thank you.
