Alan Dart has a site where you can buy his patterns as pdfs http://www.alandart.co.uk/products-page/
Kittie, I'm sure that if you wanted to you could sell your paper patterns on ebay or etsy etc - I think it's if you photocopied and sold the photocopies that the copyright becomes a problem. Any charity shop would be glad of them if you just wanted to give them away, especially if they already sold wool.
  • Thanks seakay, yes I would not be allowed to copy any but some, as I have just discovered, have a rarity value but besides that, they are lovely. So I am keeping all of them. Small knits interspaced with stuffing, sewing and stiffening, what`s not to like

having cabin fever was a good thing, I have been re-thinking my wardrobe and am going to be going back to MK later. Today, for the very first time, I am wearing a jumper I made 3 years ago. Hand spun merino wool and it is in shades of browns with rainbow all over. I made peasbody and remember how much I enjoyed making it. The back is plain stocking stitch and the garment has a slight shape, certainly female shaped. I made the sleeves and body shorter and it sits on top hip and tbh looks lovely. I was worried about it being too warm but being wool it is adapting to my body temperature. I am wearing it with a `just below knee` brown cord skirt and black school lighter legs. Well this has to be the new me

Being lightly spun and 2 ply, It won`t be rugged so anything I do today will be with an apron on and that includes knitting, or I will get a fluffy patch

First time I've ever read this thread and I wandered into the Alan Dart pattern discussion. I've never heard of him before but the knitted items look amazing. Are his patterns easy to follow? I'm quite a competent knitter so don't mind if they're a bit tricky it's more whether the patterns are clear and understandable.

Hello Vixstar, his patterns are very easy to follow in my humble opinion, he walks you through every stage and as a competent knitter you should have no problems x

oh yes vixstar, very easy and very satisfying. An Alan Dart pattern would have helped cabin fever. I made my shaum knitting sheep so that she could sit on the edge of a shelf, heavier beads in the bottom. I made a nativity scene once, all in shades of beige grey and browns, was gorgeous and a dd has it, now an heirloom

I made a couple of his dolls when I was about 6-8 so they can't be too difficult

I finished my overtop and am wearing it, didn`t press it afterwards. The yarn is spun so the wool is very lightly held and I just washed it, said to dry clean but it is ok to soak, squeeze and use a spin dryer for a few seconds and dried it flat on a towel. It is nice and warm with the extra layering, back is nice and warm and so are the cuffs. I can see me easily wearing this many times but I cannot see it lasting that long, any pulls on it will break the yarn. I have some balls left

Do you like this? I wanted to make a hat next

Well I finished a little hat and booties for a work colleague just in time, I gave then to her on Saturday (her last day) just as well as she had the baby on Monday! She sent a pic of her wearing the hat, I was so touched.
Am now working on the second sock of my dd's Kittie socks
