I have given in, had this finger joint pain before and thought my crafting world was collapsing but it got better, although will never be straight again. No point in exacerbating the condition ie wear and tear, so I have gritted my teeth and packed my knitting into a box with a marked pattern, so I know where I am up to, months from now
I can do other crafting like pyrography, if I get completely bored0 -
I'm sorry to hear you are unable to knit for a while kittie, I haven't posted on here but enjoyed reading about you knitting, shame you couldn't finish your top. Get well soon xQuot Libros, Quam Breve Tempus

I've picked up 2 400gm ball sof light grey aran from the aldi event today - going to make the baby bunting sleeping bag for the Hitch hiker when i read back through this thread to find the translation pattern :rotfl:Living in a superhero induced haze :A:A

I got some of the grey aran too. DGS got a knight's outfit for Christmas and I've found a pattern for a chain mail type cowl.
Our Aldi had DK in pastel shades so bought some cream for hats , bonding squares etc for the neonatal unit. The actual baby yarn that they had was much thicker and I wasn't sure if it would be suitable for tiny babies.0 -
Hello All
May I join please?
Sorry to hear about your sore joints Kittie, hope you are back to knitting soon.
I have trying to finish all my UFO's from last year. Have managed to finish my dh facehugger toy from the Alien films, sewed some buttons on a lingering cardi and finished 2 tiny mice for my kids ( that were for their Christmas stockings, but are now for Valentine's Day!) have just started a small cowl for ds hoping to finish by tomorrow evening as he has a school trip on Wednesday at the park ands it's freezing here at the moment.
Although it's only just February am pleased that I have not yet succumbed to yarn buying and am working from stash. Ds cowl is left over yarn from a nappy cover I knit for him 10 years ago.'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

I remember making a chain-mail cowl and hood for dgs, looked everywhere for a steely-looking yarn, dh made him a wooden sword and a shield
Today I am wearing a poncho over a thin top.Made from handspun merino/silk and plied, not thin yarn and perfect for a day like today. I remember it being a very easy and satisfying knit, one I would make again, when this one wears out

I did eye up two lovely aran tops made also in home spun merino

They are both slightly fitted ie woman-shaped and look so lovely that I have hardly worn them, certainly not for everyday in the house on my own, I love seeing them in a drawer but need to wear them when out the house, maybe later when I can go out with a bodywarmer
Knitting finger is almost better and I have learnt to do knit stitch while holding yarn in my left hand, it is very quick. I took my last part-knit out and still could not fathom why it was like a rubics cube. Realised that I should have had the ends at the opposite end ie it is knitted sideways up and around the shoulder. So I frogged up to the crossover, re-positioned and did one row and at long last can see the top as it was meant to be. Only 10 inches and then the sleeve and I am done, so I am starting that today, perfect cold day with sun coming out later0 -
Glad your finger is improving. I'm on my 10th hat since mid November. I still make mistakes. I'm going to have far too many this year. I better spread them around charity shops father afield.0

Hello SIRENS, welcome to the thread, hope you managed to get your ds' cowl finished in time.
I haven't done much recently but I have been using up small bits of leftover yarn to make simple Innocent Smoothie hats ready for the next collection0
