oh my, world of wool custom blend just arrived, this is fibre for spinning. I am loving the look of it, well that is it then, my falklands wool spinning is going to be put to one side as I want this new one for a summer top, this year. I have a few spinning wheels and this blend will get my performance wheel going. The colouring is lovely, like a sea blue with a smattering of green and much silkiness with a light sheen
Just in case anyone is wondering, this is what I had blended and did five cycles, so it is thoroughly mixed
white viscose 28%
white nylon 14%
superfine merino in colour grass 14%
superfine merino in colour royal 42%
I am hoping that my spinning will do it justice and will start later this afternoon. I have 500g and it cost £35. I will do the spinning first and then find a pattern on rav. or maybe one I already have. It might even make two items, afterlight with 3/4 sleeves takes 400g, so I could also get another hitchiker
I still have not caught up with the frogging I had to do, finished the front completely but am now lengthening the back before doing armholes. Another few days will see afterlight done
I felted a garment I had no particular use for. An open front, short sleeved top, made with waste merino, early spinning and stripey in pinks and grey. Washed it with detergent, in the machine on 60 on a bashing denim wash. It has shrunk to 1/4 size and can now stand up by itself. It will be useful to cut out for something, maybe a bag. Not enough hours in the day0 -
I really want to place a world of wool order now that I have a drop spindle.
(I also really want to buy a spinning wheel, but I'm determined to hold out until after we move, both so I can figure out spinning on a spindle and so we have one less thing to cart about!)0 -

My DD emailed and said I don't need to rush as GDS has a winter hat for this year which won't fit next. It's a good job as It taking ages to make this fish hat. I haven't finished shaping the mouth yet.
I will have to get something else on the needles. May go back to the jumper I started for GDS. I got about 5 inches done and thought it looked rather big. A size 24 chest was knitting up 30 inches wide. I have had this problem with two other patterns. one of them I have knit for myself the 28 chest twice it is perfect for me at 38 bust.
Do modern patterns all do this? They all seem to have far too many stitches even if I go down two sizes on the needles. I am not a loose knitter.
Does anyone have a pattern with more reasonable amount of stitches so I can cut it down and work out a more reasonable fit? DGS is a tall 3 1/2.0 -
Hi, finally bought buttons to complete a baby set. While waiting to get the buttons I've nearly finished a waistcoat for myself - that's the one I knitted in and didn't like the wool so ripped it back. Here's a pick of the baby set - it was a mix and match of several patterns.
Happy knitting xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

That colour is lovely PD.
Need some advice please. I have a load of yarn that was started into a jumper that I messed up and frogged then put away. Do i need to do anything with it before I knit it again? On the same vein, if I finish the next project and decide after while I want to change it for something else, can I just unravel it and start again?Mortgage Outstanding Nov '16 £142,772.75Mortgage Additional OPs 2017 Target £4522.80/ Actual £865.00GC Feb 0/£2000 -
Katzen, it will be better if you wash it unless it was only knitted for a few hours and frogger straight away.
Put to dining chairs back to back with a few inches between. Wind the wool round the backs of the chairs into hanks. Wash it gently by hand making sure you just gently squeeze. Hang it somewhere to dry. When dry ask someone to hold out their hands and put the hanks on them one at a time and wind them up into balls. Try not to stretch the wool.
You should have no kinks in it now. We used to buy all wool in hanks and have to wind them into balls. I used to have to sit there when I was little. Once I was a regular knitter of garments rather than dolls clothes it became either my brother or my father's job to do it. They were both glad when wool started to come in balls.0
