Hello everyone,
I have chunky to knit a mans jumperss but can find a free pattern anywhere for a simple plain stocking st round neck pref with raglan or drop sleeves. I may return the yarn and get DK, i think this is more suitable for him wearing around the house, as he get very hot, whilst needing an extra winter layer over a T shirt indoors!
also, I bought it from hobbycraft with a 20% disc voucher, will they transfer the disc to any goods I swop it for?0 -

Has anyone here tried the wool from China sold on Ebay? Is it good, bad, or what? It seems such a good price and with my hubby being so tall his jumpers require quite a bit of yarn weight. At the same time I don't want to use something that it is going to grow "fuzz balls" (I know this is not the right term but I'm tired today) after a couple of months.

Yarn is sold by weight - usually 50g or 100g balls but not all yarn balls will have the same length of yarn. The label will tell you how many metres (or yards*) of yarn in each ball.
For example, I'm currently using a chunky yarn that has 140 metres of yarn in each 100g ball so if I wanted to knit the pattern I linked to then I would need 6 balls of this yarn. If I chose a yarn that was in 50g balls of 80 metres length then I would need 10 balls of that. If I only bought 6 balls of the 50g weight then I would run out of yarn because I would only have 480 metres when I need 800 metres.
HTH
*it's usually metres everywhere except the USA - they haven't gone metric yet but Ravelry provides both measurements. Also, beware of USA patterns with USA needle sizes - they are NOT the same as the old British sizes.0 -
