Thank you, I'll admit I tried grafting two test pieces together and it all went a bit wrong, maybe I'll have to have another practice with it.0

Hello
I am new. I have just finished my first piece of knitting since I was a child! I have three things on the go, but have finished a pretty little headband for a friend. I knitted it in moss stitch using some cream sequinned wool, sewed it together with a mobius twist, annd have added a knitted flower with three pearl beads in the centre. I'm so proud!
Ill post a pic tomorrow if I can, but I am so pleased with myself because I made the pattern up (not for the flower, I got that off the net). I cast on 17 stitches to make it about 3 inches wide, knitted till it was 17 inches long (about 140 rows in moss stitch) and then gave it a twist before sewing it up so the hair can hang nicely over the back (tip I got off the net). Then I made the little flower (it took me 90 mins!) and attached it just overhanging the edge, at the temple, so the band can be folded in half and worn thin as well.
A better knitter than me would do it much more quickly, but I just finished it 5 minutes ago and cast it on yesterday evening about 8pm, so it took me a couple of evenings plus a little time today in the day.
Just needed to boast somewhere lol, I'm so proud!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Ordered yarn for something over a week ago and it still hasn't arrived. Am getting most impatient but it has spurred me on to finish some ufos. Stupidly they were all knitted I just hadn't got round to sewing in the ends.
Ooooo *looks around* this thread looks interesting....*settles in*....
Congrats on sorting the meecey bums - have you given in and broken into the new yarn yet?

OK, so here are some pictures:
I made another one today. They take me 3-4 hours including the flower. I also weighed them and they are 12-13g each so you should be able to squeeze four out of a 50g ball of yarn. My yarn is 175m per ball.
Need to sew up my cowl/snood that I made now and finish off the one I'm knitting in the round, and I need to do some sewing too!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Lovely head band skintchick.
I finally finished another pair of socks for DH:. More pics of these, pattern info etc on rav page.
Other news is the insurance have agreed to pay to fix our car (as opposed to writing it off), but it will take a few weeks to get parts here etc, so after I drop hire car off on Friday we will be car-less for a while.....at least there are some buses and DS will just have to get used to using his wee legs more. Pour wee soul has a bad cough and is sleeping more these days- we had a playing/knitting PJ day today.

Thank you. I got the pattern from here http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/flower02k.htm and it is surprisingly easy to do as long as you concentrate. Its just a bit fiddly.
I feel more confident that I might be able to knit DD a dress or jumper now.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

hi all x I've posted a few times on some of the other threads, but I've never ventured over here before.
One of my school teachers taught me how to knit way back in primary school. (no, i'm not telling you how long ago:p) Then when I discovered I was expecting my secong baby I decided seeing as my mum and nanna had stopped knitting, that I would have to knit a cardi myself. I bought knitting for dummies and made a perfect little girls cardigan...I may have knitted it a little tight though...the sleeves were just the right size for my little finger:o oops.
so now, five years later I have finally picked up a pair of needles again as I wanted a project for one of my older childminded kids to do. after a rummage in the charity shops one of the ladies found a bag of stuff in the back that had just been donated and hadn't been checked yet. I bought it after a quick glance for the grand sum of £2.
there were 5 pairs of needles in various sizes, a circular needle(?) 100g navy dk 3x 100g cream dk some white some yellow and 2x 100g pale green, oh and some deep claret coloured wool too. (someone had possibly been aiming to do some baby and some school jumpers!)
I'm very pleased with my bargain and after reteaching myself how to cast on and basic knit/purl my 6yr old dd wanted a go. 5 mins later she was as competent as i am:rotfl: and is well on her way to knitting a scarf for her teddy.
I also had a go at teaching the girl i look after (10). she's very impatient and lacks concentration but she was very pleased with herself after casting on 20 st and knitting a couple of rows, with a lot of help and supervision. i'm hoping it will improve her patience and concentration eventually!
I'm now halfway through a hat/neck warmer that was in one of the recent mags, ribbed and a lot of colour changes, neither of which i have done before, but so far so good. although DH has said that he WILL NOT walk down the street with me if i wear it:rotfl:(he's not one for bright colours and bobbles;))
I'm not very good at keeping up with threads, but I shall try and keep an eye on this one, so many great ideas. love the socks and the headband.
