merrywanderer that headband looks lovely, very warm and prettier than a big ole wooly hat imo :rotfl:

I'm new to this thread (and a pants knitter) but want to start knitting squares to make a blanket/shawl depending on how slow I go. How big a square could I knit with 30g of 4ply wool? Very typical acrylic/wool blend looking wool with 4mm needles- sorry I can't describe it any better.

I'm pretty sure I threw out some wool in summer in a clear out :(

I hope I am posting this in the right place as I seem to think that it was here I found the original pattern. Can anyone remember a knitting pattern of a very small Christmas pudding that holds a sweetie. I have been making them for a charity to sell at Christmas and I have lost the pattern. I hope someone can help and post me a link please.

If you mean the ones that hold a Ferrero Rocher choc then the pattern is at post 3934:

  • Gosh, you are all so clever! I have just been to A*di and bought 2 big balls of Aran yarn. DD would like some socks or slippers knitted but I am not very good at knitting. I can do the basic stitches but not sure about turning a heel and the thought of using more than 2 needles scares me somewhat!

So, the question is, does anyone have a pattern for basic socks/slippers that only uses 2 needles? I have looked on all the free sites but haven't managed to find anything.

    Thank you. XX

If you change your mind about wanting 2 needles then Silver's Sock Tutorial is the way to go! http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/SockClass_Start.htm
I was terrified of using more than 2 needles before I found this but she goes through everything (including turning a heel) in baby steps and now I find it easy peasy!
