TBF, the last couple of winters have seen temps of -12, so it's not surprising at the moment!
I'm expecting the same this year, and determined to be more wrapped up than before.
You know you've become a (somewhat) sensible adult when your Birthday wishlist is full of things like slipper socks, thermal socks, earmuffs, snoods and balaclavas! :rotfl:February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

I have always felt the cold in my extremities but since moving to Orkney I consider more and more of me to be an extremity :eek::eek::eek:

Hi there,
I thought those of you who are knitting for Christmas might be interested in these. They are just a bit different.

In prep for winter and a draughty old house I'm going to get us hot water bottles. Been searching for a nice pattern for a cover for them so I can make a 100% wool one for warmth - does anyone know of a free pattern that looks like one you would buy out of the shops? Any skill level - I'll learn if I get stuck!0

I can imagine!
And I understand about wind. It's very windy here, more often than not. Which is nice in the summer, but just awful in winter.
After I got caught out in a recent rainstorm, which bent my umbrella (!), and saw me drenched, the OH bought me one of these: http://www.senzumbrellas.com/ Not cheap for an umbrella, but works a treat!
I have a mini, so that it fits in my bag, and it is windproof up to 60km/h (I think, might have that a little low). The larger sizes are windproof up to 100km/h.
Sorry, completely off topic. Just had a Dutch lesson and went over some bits for asking questions in shops. I found a shop in my town, so am going to head over there on Saturday.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
