Would love to see some pics of the ones you have made.
Mistakes in patterns are annoying

I'll have a look - they're a bit sorry looking these days.

Well now I can laugh at the spikey octopus:rotfl:. I have to say at the time it was more like
Have never knitted gloves. Loved the ones you're going to do, looked at the pattern and went cross-eyed at the chart. Haven't followed a chart since I did a jumper with a teddy bear sat in a car for son who's now 34. And that's with colour. Don't know If I've ever followed a chart for the patterning. Always been written. But so many of the super free patterns are American and charted, so I suppose I will give it a go one day.
Just finished fourth pair of socks for son. Pic on Ravelry, (I'm Rateofknots on there), as I'm too new to upload here. Batting on with hoodie for GD1. Sleeves and hood to do. Rib on for next socks.

NannyJanny I know what you mean about charts the most awkward bit is the cable - then it looks more like a hedgehog - I don't know how many times I've stabbed myself with my needles :rotfl: You should try a chart one - they're not as bad as they look.0

I have enough problems with a pattern never mind a chart
Just cast on a sweater for Grandson. Rib and ss all OK, but may shout for help with the patternJack of all trades ... Master of none

I am not a fan of charts, prefer written directions, although have used the odd chart in the past.
Is it just me or does anyone else, when faced with a pattern and say decreases/increase, write out all the row numbers and put little +/+ next to them for increase at each end, or -/- for decrease ? I was just doing a thumb increase and I wrote row number, how many stitches should be in thumb bit and how many should be in total bit......it worked though! I do have row counters but don't really use them.

I now have to confess to being really sad!
I list all the rows on an excel spreadsheet. In next column I put pattern rows. Eg if it's a 14 row aran pattern I do loads of 1 - 14 going down the column. Next column is inc/dec etc. Next column is how many stitches I should have. Next row is to put a X in when I've done that row. Told you I was sad.
On the plus side, it ensures pieces that should match, do match. Sleeves for instance. You also have it for the next time you knit the garment. Doesn't take longer than a cup of coffee to set up. Oh I love my laptop.

Great idea but then do you not have to print it out ?Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Orkney star i do my increases and decreases same as you always have done also write out the amount of rows to the pattern and tick each row as i finish it real easy to see just where i am next time i pick up my knittingI pray for patience as strength might just get me in trouble !!!!0

I usually have laptop by the side of me, so I just mark off on screen and save for next time. I suppose if you wanted to go elsewhere with your project you could print, mark off, and then transfer the x's when you get back.
I clear the X's when I've finished, then it's set up for next time.

Yay!! Just noticed I've got a star. (Little things.......)AdditionHelps me understand the pattern and means I can do adjustments easily in the same spreadsheet.
It does need printing, but then I keep the paper I'm currently working from in the same bag as the project and tick off each row as I complete it (simple things...)."Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart.
