First time posting in here...everybody's projects are so good I felt a little intimidated.
That blanket is really lovely - well done!
We are all at different stages in here, some long term knitters, some more learners, but we all love to see each other's work!
Have you ever used https://www.ravelry.com ? So much on there and there is a MSE Ravlery group too.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Thankyou!
Have joined the Rav group. Been a member on there for ages, but only started 'using' it in the last month or so. Before then I just stared at the pretty pics and then shut it down. I don't think its a coincidence that actually investigating the site and trying to learn knitting again have resulted in me being able to knit finally! Now if I could just keep my WIPs to a reasonable level instead of starting something new every few days while only finishing something every few weeks I may start to have things to show for my time0 -
I love your little blanket.
Know what you mean about WIP. Now and then on a day such as today (very sore back) I have a sofa day when I finish several projects. The joy at seeing three garments finished off outweighs the dedication needed to sew up and finish. Oh the ends! Today have finished a beanie hat with crochet flowers and attached plaits, and hoodie with strawberry buttons on the front. (I will investigate the photo thing soon). So that just means one pair of socks on the go (surprise) and I can dive in the stash and cast on something new. Whoopee.
Oh then of course there's the crochet bee pattern I have downloaded inspired by granddaughters love of the Bee Movie. Oh did i mention belted tunic in March's Simply Knitting. Here we go again!
xx
Cuddles, your translation thing had me in fits. Sounds like something my son would make a piece of textual art work from.0 -
Can I ask opinions of this pattern please?

Join side and sleeve seams.
Think it's knit in one piece in a crucifix shape if I've read it right?
Only side seams and underarm seams to do?
Also wondering if I'll be able to make it bigger or will there be too many stitches on the needle?
Have been trying to read up about using circular needles as I've never tried them. Lots of conflicting advice, but what really confused me was someone on a blog saying that if you hold the needle with the loop towards you, your knitting will be inside out! Is that right?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Not sure I could follow the pattern, but I've certainly had a good laugh
All of the songs from the edges of the border has been calculated according to the loop, which always worked correctly. Supports and February knitting the border loop always begin from the inside.
To start, such as the back piece. Please Note! After the start of the loop on the right edge of the mattress with eye pattern in order to strike out. When the height is the same as the joustimen takakappaleessa, to start in February and the pattern knitting plaît.
Okay Cuddles123, I give up! But at least we had a good laugh! :j0 -
LOL
OK - I have dragged out my one and only circular needle - 4.5mm 60cm.
I've cast on 78 stitches for a baby hat and just about managed to join in the round.
HOWEVER - i have a very sore index finger on my right hand as I'm finding it hard to knit as the the stitches are so stretched on the circular needle. What am I doing wrong?
Also just realised that further down the pattern I'm going to need another circular needle or dpns - neither of which I have - what on earth have I started??????????Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Cuddles - sounds like you have too long a circular needle...it needs to be just a bit shorter than the overall width (x2) of the garment. I think you'll find your baby's hat should be much less than 60 in circumference!
You're right, you need to have a shorter needle or change to dpns...good luck!!
I have only a couple of circular needles, so tend to use dpns for all circular knitting...much easier...honest!!!!

Thanks Keiss.
The pattern says 60cm circulars, and I'm doing the third size up, so thought I was doing something wrong.
Will be interesting to see what size it knits up as.
Need to buy or borrow some dpns now.
On the subject of circular needles - can you buy a set with different lengths and size tips?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Cuddles,
Dragon Yarns have a knit pro system. Looks like you can interchange etc. Have never tried circular myself in 50 years of knitting. I'm getting curious though. Used to work with someone who used them for most things. Wish I'd asked more questions now. Fewer seams to sew sounds blissful.

Had a lovely time away with my grandson - lots of cuddles. All the things I knitted went down well!
Have been asked to knit him a jumper that opens at the neck as he hates things going over his head. Had a quick search for patterns, but not a lot out there!
I am not a hugely accomplished knitter so need something simple for a 1 year old size. Any recommendations please? Would like to use a nice wool and do a cable down the front if possible. Only patterns I have found are for Bernat yarn, which doesn't seem to be widely available here. Anyone know of an equivalent?
I don't know if you've managed to sort this out yet but if you've found a pattern that you like but which calls for Bernat yarn could you not still use the pattern but find a yarn which knits to the same tension?Did owe £9,951.96
