Boots have the Lindam safety gates on offer at the moment, 20% off + triple points promotion

The Premium easy fit(£22.99 in Argos) is £19.99, the Plus(£19.99 in Argos) is £15.99. If you are buying 3 then it puts the order over £40 so free delivery. Just a shame non of the 10% codes seem to be working at moment.
  • i dont know if you have a sures tart in your area but they supply and firt hese in ours for £6 for x2 safety gates and a fire guard and a smoke alarm. If no sure start then speak to your childs health visitor at the gp surgery they can recommend you who can help. ps it is always better to fit from brand new as used ones are not so good as you have to have the tension on the spring correct as the man who fitted mine told me to check the fittings quite regularly.

    hope this help

Here's a controversial one for you.

I'm trying to scrape together money for a stairgate at the moment, and have had to resort to putting a bolt on the door to keep my toddler in.

Is this cruel?!! It's not like I keep him in there for 23 hours a day, but it still seems weird to bolt him in at night!

If he's crying at the door, trying to get out, then I think you should go to him immediately, otherwise I think that it is cruel and frightening. But not as cruel and frightening as letting him fall down the stairs! If he is old enough that this is an issue, could you put a chain on or something instead, so he can see out but not get out until you can get to him?

We are worried that our son is close to being able to climb out of his cot and we're worried about him getting out of his room at night, so we have a piece of string we keep his door closed with at night too. Essentially the same as a bolt. As he hasn't got out of his cot, he doesn't know it's there so no harm to him and piece of mind for us.

Tricky one! I'm sure we'll get lots of opinions here!

I used to have a bit of string (aswell as a safety gate) but he solved both of those! Then we tried putting a heavy laundry basket in front of the gate. He would use the gate to push the basket out of the way and then use the basket to push the gate closed. By the time we got upstairs, the door was exactly as we left it but no sign of him!!

Yeah, we do go to him straight away. Couldn't leave him crying, little babe!

Ive pulled mine off a few days ago...you can have that if you want!

If Sexy_Fufu don't want it, can I? I have one that you screw into the wall and it's come away, i can't re attach it as it's left the screw holes with a big hole. I need it for my puppy you see :)

we made all ours.A piece of wood makes the actual gate and 2 thin bits of wood either side of the door or opening so you can slot the piece of wood down into them.We used to put the stair one up at night so they couldnt go downstairs unsupervised but during the day,we had one at the bottom so they couldnt go up.I used to have one on each door of the living room so the whole room was a giant safety area and I could see them from the kitchen when I was cooking and just step over them myself when needed. Cant stand playpens.
OH made one for the sliding door which was like the side of a cot,so we could have the door open and see out(the door wedged in the opening with a latch to stop it being pushed or pulled out). The bars must be less than 4" apart if you make one(so they cant get their heads stuck).

Forgot to post this. I saw gates in Netto last week for £11. They seemed good but I don't know about sizes.
