I have had an Easiyo in the cupboard for a few months and when I made my first lot it didn't go down very well with the family, but due to the fact hubby likes to eat it by the bucket load I have decided to try again.

Made it last night and having just tried it is very tart but definately tastes like yoghurt. Now defrosting a bag of fruit I had in the freezer. :)

I noticed yesterday that lakeland are now selling a mix which you add to nautral yoghurt , beat it and turn it int a cheescake mix like here
    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/easiyo-cheesecake-filling-mix/F/C/cooking-baking/C/cooking-baking-yoghurt-making/product/14656

anyone tried it or know what the ingredients are in it?

For anyone reading Lakeland have the Easiyo down to £6.99 again.

Being thinking of getting one of these for aggggeeesss. So really fancy this. Just wondering what exactly you get in the pack with the maker-lakeland don't have a full description?

If I am ordering the maker online, I may as well order some mixes as well-especially if you don't get any in the box with it.
Any recommendations of what to get? I like natural yoghurt and the drinks, my fav is the creamy stuff in muller corners mmmmm. Are the berry squeezy things any good?

I got my yogurt maker for xmas last year, I didn't know how much I'd use it but my mum managed to get it hlaf price so worth trying! I'm happy to report that over 12months later I still use it almost every week and i have only bought about 2 or 3 packs of yogurts in all that time (when on special offer and I fancied a change!!). I must have saved a fortune already!!

I got the larger box with 3 sachets so not quite sure what's in this, it may be listed on the Easiyo site? I suspect its the jar and flask and one sachet?

I haven't bought the squirts but read comments that its no different to anything else you might add. The flavours that go down well here are strawberry, lemon, raspberry, the usual suspects.

A couple of tips: don't make it up and rush to try it after 8 hours, it will be OK but not particularly thick. I'd suggest setting it overnight. I usually give it 12-18 hours - I once forgot it and it was in for 30 hours … good flavour but it needed a knife to serve it ;)

Don't use water straight from the tap its too cold. I tend now to use it slightly lukewarm.

If you want to strain it put it in a kitchen paper lined collander in the fridge overnight. You can use the whey remaindered for baking etc.

While the mixes are more expensive than using milk they are pretty good vs. premium yogurt from the supermarket and there's no waste containers etc plus its always fresh - oh and it lasts for about 2 weeks once in use, but you'll probably use it all before then.

Wahlshop has the cheapest and a much bigger selection than Lakeland et al if you buy a 10 pack pick'n'mix.

Quick question: DH likes the ''perle du lait'' yoghurt and wondered if there is a way to make this less sour yoghurt at home or if any of the easiyo sachets make such a thing? We have an easiyo....I just don't buy the sachets very often

mine arrived from Lakeland this morning! It's just the actual yoghurt maker - so the inner pot that you put the actual yog in and the big white insulating flask. Also comes with a recipe book which doesn't look that helpful.

My OH thought I was joking when I told him I thought the recent volumes of (very low fat) home made yoghurt I've been eating have been affecting my weight loss. Although official weigh in is tomorrow morning, sneaky peaks show I'm heading for 3-4lbs myself. Could we be on to something here?

Out of interest, how much yoghurt starter/milk did you use? I used a rounded teaspoon to a pint (so approx half a litre). Were your proportions similar or can I cut down even further?

Interestingly I read/saw somewhere that latest studies show a diet high in calcium rich foods ie dairy mean you excrete higher levels of fat in many cases double the amount. Obviously if you excrete it you aren't absorbing it (think thats how things like "alli" work). So low fat dairy is recommended for dieters.

I confess, I haven't read through all the messages, but you folks do know that you don't have to use ALL of the easiyo sachet at once, don't you?

Here's how we do it: Get some UHT milk (we use whole milk). No need to heat it. Just half fill the big pot that goes in the flask. Put in 1 tablespoon out of the Easiyo yoghurt packet of your choice. We love the Greek natural yoghurt best.

So - just 1 tablespoon of powdered stuff. Put on lid and shake. Fill the rest of the big pot with the remainder of the UHT milk. Put on lid and shake again. Pour boiling water into the flask thingy as normal. Then leave for a long time!!

Usually if we put it together at lunchtime, the thick Greek yoghurt is ready by the following morning for breakfast. And very yummy, too (just like the Muller corner yoghurt). We then put home-made jam in it :-)

Once you find yourself getting to the end of that first lot of yoghurt, reserve 2 tablespoons of the yoghurt and shake that into a litre of UHT milk. Sometimes it works a third time and sometimes it separates.

But it takes AGES to go through a sachet in this way, and all it takes is a little time. And it's very, very cheap....
