The biggest problem we had while I worked there was the fact that the Call center had an amazing skill of just telling the customer what they wanted to hear when this was in fact a load of rubbish. This was a very very common occurance, and it caused us a lot of hassle.
For us it was the manager who made the final decision on all in store decisions. This is the same with all the Comets, they tend to come back to the store and leave the decision to the store manager.
Im not totally sure what your problem was, could you explain again?

got to add my rant having read this. I needed a replacement switch for my electric hob unit, they supplied the new switch but no wiring instructions ( it varied slightly from the original one) when I asked for the wiring diagram I was given the complete run around by their service dept (joke) after a number of mind numbing phone calls to their head office in Leeds It tops up that they do not want a DIY repair, they want you to employ their engineers at great cost to you. That said why sell me the product in the first place?. Comet!!! once bitten twice shy, never again a customer I would rather pay more elsewhere.
P.S.

I bought an item in comet a few weeks ago, it was an online reservation to collect in store. The bloke and his colleague were at the till playing with staples and when I asked for the item he got stroppy that nobody was about to go get it for him, I guess he was busy playing with his staples! Anyway he went off and it wasnt ready for me to collect. The bloke couldnt even find the item, just kept appearing and disappearing without telling me what was going on. There were plenty of staff floating about and in over 20 mins standing at the till waiting not one asked if I was ok.
I received a feedback email asking about my experience and although I gave them poor results they have not bothered to follow it up. Customer service is not their strong point and I too will avoid shopping with them in future.0
