Glad we have spoken, mot - nearly an hour!
    Unreal for the anti-phone, don't-like-it, hopeless-on-it, give-me-the-written-word-any-day old harpy that I am.
Bring me your homework after school and I'll check it through.

Dear sbb, when you - and so many others, mot included, talk about all the Good Girl Housework-y things you do, I can only think of this old'un(but it's a good'un!)
MY IDEA OF HOUSEWORK IS TO SWEEP THE ROOM WITH A GLANCE.
I also remember, with regard to children, ' Water dries; mud brushes off.'
Wise - means I can play in puddles and mud, too.:D

Hello rog2 - how go your girls?
    In lay?
One of A's drowned last week, when her vocational trial as Channel swimmer ended in the metre-wide ruisseau.

Hi & - we were supposed to get 'the girls' two weeks ago, but they went so quickly that there were none available. Been told that they are doing another 'rescue' this week and that we are 'top of the list' - on va voir.

Someone did tell me that they don't take to water in the same way as ducks.

Sorry, mot - 'the girls' refers to the chickens that we are getting. My children bought a chicken coup for my wife, at Christmas. We were going to buy some hens, but decided, after watching Jamie Oliver, to get some 'rescue' hens. So, it would appear, has half the country - we've been waiting for over a month, now.
Still, the fresh eggs will make the wait worthwhile - plus the 'rescue hens' will get a decent life.
Perhaps it's something you should consider, when you move into the new house, mot. Just check your contract to see if you are allowed.

They can smell, but not if you keep their run clean, plus they can turn your garden into a barren quagmire - but don't believe everything you are told. We kept chickens, twenty odd years ago and did not have any problems.

What kind of man can not ring his kids during the time he doesn't see them or wouldn't want to have them to stay for a week or two or want to take them on holiday somewhere? He has never asked to see their school reports either and doesn't seem to want to know about their secondary schools - now I know that some of this is because I don't tell him but surely if he was interested he would ask - wouldn't he??

If I wasn't certain my ex-husband was an only child, I'd say that you must have been married to his brother

rog, you were perhaps au boulot when this aired.
Dylan Winter's interlude on battery chicken handover and their remarkable re-adaptation rate was a joy. His own delight was palpable as the chickens, initially unable to stand on the grass of their new home, soon managed and instinctively behaved, for the first time, in chicken-y ways.

I am ME and that this will not happen to me as I am my own person - you are right though in that I do 'take on' other people's problems which is something I have to distance myself from yet still be there as a friend and a better role model for her when she comes home.

So brace yourselves this is MOT and twins - the start of our new life :rotfl: :rotfl:

This could be me writing this! If I spent more time actually living my life rather than assuming it will all go wrong because there are similar people/age/etc. where things have not been right - life would be easier. Must be a Piscean trait!

A is right - and I'm glad that in the cold light of day you can see that too. You are such an empathetic, thoughtful person going through your own nightmare and yet still able to think of others. Your poor friend is obviously having a terrible time - but if she's receiving help she'll get better I'm sure. Easy to make comparisons, but please don't - you'll drive yourself crazy with it.

Your compassion for others in trouble is truly inspirational.
