I'm with Ssaver,
It's just plain childish. At least you expect it from children. I could not cope with it and would be upset if my partner would not even try something i had spent time effort and money on.
BTW does he ever cook for you?

Fussy eaters get their food put in the bin in this house, and go hungry. It only happens once! Sounds a bit harsh, but can be effective. Not to be used if they genuinely hate something, but if they haven't tried it, too bad!
Hubby raved on about chilli con carne at a friends, made it for him. Didn't even try it and told me I knew he hated it???? Scraped whole plate into bin, then sat down and ate my meal. Ok, I was choking on it because I was so mad that he hadn't even tried it. He tried to get out of at the time saying I shouldn't have put it in the bin, he might have tried it, but I didn't give him a chance, trying to make me feel guilty. Not a chance! Still married to the old toad 21 years on......
I must be a total ogre! Daughter and her friend having lunch (aged about 7 yrs). Friend wasn't eating soup which she had asked for. Was very keen to eat pudding though. Daughter asked how long she was staying. Friend a bit puzzled. Well, if you don't eat your soup, you won't get pudding. And then you will have to stay for tea, and you will have to eat your soup first - I'm not waiting all day for you to finish your soup, but my Mum will! ;D0 -
Like your style Anne_Marie
I have 2 children, 4 and 20 months. The eldest is faddy, the 1 year old eats anything.
When i served Spag Bol (blended to hide the veg for eldest ::)) he decided he'd had enough after few mouthfuls,i did tell him there'd be nothing else.
I let it cool, covered it and put it back in fridge.
Sure enough an hour later - i'm hungry, so i warmed same dish up and said i would repeat exercise till it'd gone. It got eaten
He tried same stunt a few weeks later so i did exactly same thing and again it was eaten.
Has never tried it a third time
BTW- Has your husband eaten chilli since?0 -
Lol Spendless! And yes he has, just without the beans in, and I call it something else - spicy mince! ::)0

Right here's the problem, my b/f is a bloomin mare in the eating department.
He will not eat hardley anything, he's worse than the kids!
I am afraid that this unhealthy eating habit will lead to a serious health problem. He is addicted to salt and sugar which is prominent in the processed foods that he eats.
I was not a fussy eater but i did eat most things packed with salt sugar and BAD fats. 3 months ago i changed and now eat only healthy GOOD fat foods. I have lost 2 stone, my blood pressure has come right down to normal, my cholestrol is low and I was 20 stone!!
I am exercising and really enjoying life - full of energy I am typing this at 415am cos my body batteries are energised by the good foods i eat.
Yes i can hear everyone on their computers now saying that I am another food freak preaching the healthy eating gospel but eh.. dont knock it till you have tried it. I look at chip shops now and think of all that fat clogging the arteries.
He is not a fussy eater just stubborn and selfish and i say that because you have had to come to this forum obviuosly under duress from the strain it has put you under. If he doesnt care about himself then make sure you look after yourself as he will probably need you to look after him later on in life. The best work is the cheapest as the quality remains long after the price is forgotten0 -
I agree with Anne Marie, if my kids say they dont want something, they just get told there is nothing else etc etc. Sometimes its because they are tired, or just because they dont fancy what is put in front of them but I never ever make anything else. When they say they dont like something, I say have you tried it? If they havent they have to try it because they could be missing out on something thats really nice. This always works now and they will try everything once. I know my son doesnt like mushrooms and eggs so I dont give him them. I know he eats peas at his Nans, so he has no choice when I serve peas!
My kids are 7 and 4 and they eat things like Fajitas (Which they love with soured cream), chilli, curry, stew virtually anything that we adults would eat.
The habits you give them now will affect them later on. I know a mother who always allowed her children to have tomato ketchup with the Sunday dinner, which they still do to this day and they are both in their 30's now!“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Hi Guys,
New years resolutions etc etc,
My OH has decided that he's a bit on the porky side and wants to loose weight, he has asked me to write out a weekly / montly spreadsheet with breakfast lunch / dinner on it.
Brilliant i thought, i could do that but i'd forgotten what a bloody fussy eater he is, i'm sure you've read in a couple of my threads what a nightmare he is with food, but he's determined to give this diet thing a go bless him, and who am i to stand in the way
So guys it is easier to write down what he does like as it is not a lot and you could hopefully work with that.
So here goes
Beef
Chicken
Peas (Processed in a tin only!)
Potatoes
Mince (He'll eat bolognaise sauce on chips but not with spaggetti as he will not eat pasta :wall: and does not like chili, will eat shepards pie)
Frozen pies, chicken beef steak (Nothing with mushrooms in it)
sausages
cheese
other stuff i do put into meals without him knowing so i could get away with that but as for veggies and things like that it's a no-no
Can anyone help or is my boy a lost cause ??

Are you as bad as that ?
Honestly it's a nightmare, bless him ii know it's not his fault if he doesn't like stuff but it effects everyone else.
He went away the other week and my Mum invited me for dinner and cooked lamb !!
I nearly wet myself it's been nearly 2 years since i've eaten it :rotfl:0 -
You've got a tough one there. Lots of meat and practically no veggies, pasta, rice etc... A lot of the meal suggestions as a result are completely wiped out.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0
