  • We have decided to have a family party on the Friday, doing the 18 gift idea - thanks for that one. I'm also going to do him a memory book titled "The First 18 Years" I know it sounds a bit cheesy but I think he would like something to keep (or for me to keep until he wants it himself). There are lots of things that happened whilst I was pregnant with him and whilst he was young which he might like to know about. I will include that list:

    6570 days old
    1.57.680 hours old
    9.460.800 minutes old
    567.648.000 seconds old

and some predictions for his future.

His 18th Party is the following night, absolutely fantastic place, just been totally refurbished with balcony and a terrace outside as well. We aren't allowed to this one as it's just for his friends.

People have asked for suggestions for presents and so far I've said Mini helicoptor (his dad's got one), premium bonds, the tankard suggested earlier, driving lesson vouchers.

I'm feeling quite pleased with what we have planned so far.

My daughter is 18 tomorrow and we've done her a box of 18 presents. There are various bits and bobs in there : a fluffy scarf I knitted, chocolates, some nice Nicky Clarke shampoo & conditioner (on BOGOF), pretty pants and socks (Primark), I decorated a key for our house and made a personalised keyring, a mug and selection of different hot chocloate sachets......loads of stuff. And probably came to about £20 in all, so you could do something similar and get a more expensive present for parcel number 18.

Thanks, I loved this idea, I've pinched it for my lad who's 18 in a couple of weeks. He only wants money and feeling sorry for him with nothing to open, I started buying 'bits and bobs'...it's ended up a lot more costly than I thought and I'm running out of ideas for some cheap things to make up the numbers....it's so much easier for girls!

I didn't know what to get my son for his 18th - but I did want to get him something that he could keep for always. I had a head and shoulder photo of him 'Andy Warholed' (in the pop art style) on canvas and it's amazing!
