  • My son is 18 soon and we have booked a room/disco for him. Does anyone have any ideas to make it a night to remember or more special for him. At the moment we have room, disco, food, bar but no other ideas.

  • Not sure of your budget but how about a limo to or from the party to your home.

I had my 21st recently (which was great) but really wish I had chosen a theme but had left it too late. For example, black and white, James Bond, casino...

i did a scrapbook for my bros 21st and the same for my cousins 18th
just got like a notebook with blank pages from smiths
stuck a bunch of photos in (old and new) and got people to write messages when they came to the party
did it so that e.g. bro and mum had 1 page and she wrote a message on that page kinda thing

people said do the projecter thing but this is lasting plus they can add to it in future birthdays
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D
  • Oooh I'm liking these ideas - though not the stripper - that would be for his dad!!

He plays poker, but I was just thinking of maybe a roulette wheel type of thing, not for money - wonder if this would be allowed?
  • Woah...

18th birthdays are not supposed to be remembered. Give him a bar tab and say enjoy! Add some music, loads of mates and some food and the night will do itself!
  • You should get him a stripper! A fat ugly one!! It'll certainly be a night to remember!!!!

As mentioned, this is your opportunity to payback for for the last 18 years! lol

    - Does he know he's having a party, or is it a surprise?
    - How many people will be going? (Themes/fancy dress will reduce the amount of people going - trust me).
    - Will he get embarrassed at baby photo's?
    - Who is supplying the music? You have probably got a DJ booked, so make sure you give playlists written by your son & or his friends. Cindi Lauper doesn't go down too well with 18 year old boys.
    - Are you putting food on? A reasonable buffet always keeps people in the party spirit.
    - Bottle of cheap champagne to spray all over the place.
    - Plenty of disposable camera's, or a digital camera that can store loads of pictures. Make sure you get prints asap, I lost all of my digital photo's from my 18th due to stupidity!
    - Invite all of the family, even the people who "haven't seen him since he was this [hold hand up to waist] big...!".

These are all cost-saving ideas, I think!

If you can't come up with anything else, a roly poly stripper (huge, fat stripper) will make it a night to remember.
