debt free in 1200 months!?

Hi Seaxwyn - thanks for that! I am on Orange and am PAYG - so I will listen to the menu and let you know - the Dolphin option sounds good to me - because although I hardly use my mobile at all to make outgoing calls, I do need to be able to text and respond to texts when there is a flurry of info going round - I reckon 300 texts would last me quite a long time.
Love Film - yes, it can go - I will cancel. I pay for a TV licence but don't have TV - I have TV receiving equipment which I use to watch DVDs on (and am too scared to not have a licence!). My son downloads TV shows on the computer (mostly from America I think).
What with you losing your purse last week - I have lost my spending diary - I haven't checked the flower bed yet :rotfl:Anyway - very glad I started recording daily spends on here, so I have a record. xxx

Monday's spends were food shopping (£10.14), a stamp (36p) [it had to be first class because it was course work which needed to be in by tomorrow], and sadly - I had to put £5 of my own money into Petty Cash because I somehow lost £5 when I was out shopping :-( Oh well - nothing I can do about it.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
Hiya! How maddening about losing the £5.... and the spending diary. Search those flower beds.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

The missing £5 from Petty Cash was found! So I did not have to sub it with my own cash - Monday's figure adjusted:D. Tuesday - finally a NSD:D. Wednesday - just a bit of food from the farmer's market - organic tomatoes and courgettes (£2.80), and a loaf of really nice bread (£1.80).
I found my spending diary in my tray at work:D
Have changed to Dolphin tariff on my Orange PAYG which gives me the free 300 texts when I top-up (need to just check if there is a minimum top-up to qualify).
Did a sleep-in at work last night - got to bed at 00.15 - woken at 01.00, 02.00, 03.15, 04.10, 05.20 and up on duty again at 06.00 - like, no sleep to speak of...... so have just had 2 hrs kip to fill my sleep-bank! Always wake up feeling a bit disorientated - I'll be OK.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
On a more serious note: I've received a letter from the Halifax (re credit card) saying they accept my offer of reduced payments as an 'informal arrangement' which will be reviewed in September. They have reduced the interest to 12.69% (from 19.95%) and suppressed charges during this arrangement (will have to write and see if they will reverse the late fee of £12 added to account on 15th June. Not sure if that is a good response or not as it does not fully accept my offer and conditions requested - they give three months - then refer to recovery team (when interest would be stopped).
I can use their example to encourage the Post Office to reconsider their response to my offer. On the whole, it seems positive.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
I printed out the terms and conditions for Dolphin on PAYG and still couldn't be sure I had understood it - it seems you only get 300 free texts as long as you have topped up by £10 in the preceding month - and it seems to me that you have to top up by £10 a month to remain eligible. Seaxwyn said her daughter tops up about every 3 months and still gets it - so I am not sure - I think I will post a query on the telephones board and let you know......Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0

Thursday's spends were bus fare to visit friend (£3.60); local newspaper (50p with a discount voucher); bag of doughnuts to share with friend (99p); photocopying and stamp (54p). Quite a moderate day (day off potentially spendy - but just had holiday so not feeling too deprived!).Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
Hiya. My daughter has been on the Dolphin tariff for some time and from what we can work out, you get 300 free texts each time you top up by £10. if you top up by £5 twice in a month, you get the free texts too.
They last for a month, so if you don't use them you lose them. It doesn't matter how long you go between topping up - you certainly don't have to do it every month.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
On a more serious note: have posted second letter to Post Office asking them to reconsider and enclosing copies of my replies from Halifax One Card and the District Council. Phoned National Debtline to check it was advisable to send copies of letters which did not evidence total acceptance of my offers - and they said - definitely - stand by my offers and show them that other companies have been reasonable etc... it is so great to have their non-judgmental advice and support.
Went to see landlady yesterday - she is not concerned about the damp - says it just an old house (previous tenant says it is due to rain water tracking down), however, she has asked an electrician to come and fix the light fitting that fell out of the ceiling, and get the shower working (replace it I hope). She was also not interested in my argument that I should be able to open a window in my bedroom and lounge - she says that insurance wouldn't allow it because I am a basement flat and opposite a pub.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
Hi there, just read your whole diary and want to wish you the best of luck.
I have been "lurking" on this site for a few weeks and am now inspired to maybe post a thread with my problems.
You won my first post here, thank-you.0
