Hmm - don't know if it's right or not - but I have just looked at my credit report and it shows my total debts as being £10,859 - if it's right, that's good news! They have the loan balance at £5,298 - maybe it doesn't take the insurance into account.

    Hi bountiful

Thanks for your reply on my question. I will take on board what you have said. Haven't thought about starting my own thread on DFW because I don't think anyone would be interested! There are so many diaries etc.

I had forgotten I had asked the same question last year, but then I was referring to getting one card to pay the overdraft off, this time I have actually got a couple of cards and was trying to work out how to actually do it.

Anyway sorry for hijacking your thread - just wanted to let you know I appreciated the reply.

Hope it's helpful. I didn't think anyone would read my thread either! There seem to be so many witty and interesting people - I thought I was pretty boring....... start a diary just for yourself - it keeps everything in one place and you can watch your progress. I'll read it! LOL xxx

I am going to keep a note here of my NSDs :D=NSD :o=no NSD
    Mon 9th ................ £2:o
    Tues 10th .............. £13.50:o
    Wed 11th...............£0.25:o
    Thurs 12th..............£17.60:o
    Frid 13th................
    Sat 14th.................
    Sun 15th ...............

Gosh, Wednesday was only a drink from a Klix machine - I was on a training course and we had to buy our refreshments from a machine (mean or what). Thursday - bus to college (£4.10), a cheap jacket from Peacock's (£8) because I was cold/far from home&sun was shining when I left home!, a coffee and flapjack (£1.15) in the canteen at college, a library fine(75p) chocolate facepack treat (£1) , pasty for lunch (£1.60) and 4 saffron buns for tea (£1) (a very treaty money-wasting day - albeit low budget)

Good news: went to see my tutor and I can suspend my studies for the summer and continue in September with a provisional completion date at end of Dec. That feels do-able and I feel much better.:D

Oh dear! If Thursday was treaty then Friday got even worse/better:eek:
OK - here goes - a pair of shorts from Seasalt £30:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
my justification "last week I went out with my friend on bikes and I felt a real twit in my jeans when everyone else (nearly) was wearing shorts - I have very low confidence when it comes to shorts, but decided I had to DO IT! Tried Peacocks and BhS but they looked awful, tried Seasalt (just out of curiosity) and they look great - so I had to have them.

I posted a parcel and bought some stamps £3.98; topped up my mobile £5; £2.70 on taxi; £30 on meal at Pizza Express with mentee. The STUPID thing is that I should have been able to claim at least some of the pizza money back from the County Council - but I came away without the receipt (ditto the taxi) stupid, stupid, stupid:mad:
I did also spend £5.10 on train and £4.10 on bus in the course of work and can claim that back at least - I also got a free ride on my train home because the machine was broken and the conductor said he was trying not to sell tickets :rotfl:

So - overall Friday was a very enjoyable day - but not a money-saving day AT ALL! I think it had, psychologically, to do with the fact that I finished my last work shift on Friday morning and entered an "I'm on holiday for 9 days" mentality (I found 5p on the seat of the train).

Today, Saturday, I had to buy food for the weekend/stock up basics £29.09. I had to do some laundry £5.65 as we were out of tea-towels and flannels (I did do it myself though and didn't pay £12 for a service wash!). I also spent £4.63 on a tubigrip bandage for my arm and some Anadin. I have a kind of RSI thing going on in my left forearm - had it about a month now and it is not getting better because I am not resting it enough - I think it is a workplace injury really - carrying massively heavy shopping bags with service-users hanging onto my arm at the same time - must campaign for a shopping trolley!

Sunday will not be a NSD because I am going on a journey eastwards and will have to contribute to petrol. But, I am going to make myself a salad box like the ones in the shop - layers of lettuce and stuff covered with a bit of pasta, grated cheese, maybe an egg as well with mayo, and I bought a punnet of local strawberries - so I shall have a first class packed lunch and not feel deprived! I am not sure how much to allow myself for the inevitable service station stop - maybe one drink each way and water the rest of the time.

I don't know whereabouts in Kernow you live but did you know Seasalt have a clearance warehouse open Saturday mornings on the same industrial estate as Falmouth Asda? Worth a look if you're in the area.

Sunday - my driver would only accept £5 petrol money - and I didn't have to buy any coffees because we didn't stop on the way - so not as expensive today as I thought it might be.

I didn't manage to have a NSD at all this week - and spent rather a lot really £139.40 if my maths is right  My friend reminded me that I was allowed to have a little splurge with the money from the sale of my Dad's stuff - and she was glad I had spent something on myself

I am determined that Monday will be a NDS - I have food in the cupboard (my son has run out of milk - he'll have to buy his own or wait until Tuesday.

On a more serious note: having sent out Letter A to all my creditors I have had two replies:
Halifax Loan (direct debits department) sent me a letter saying that they had been informed that I had cancelled my direct debit and sent me another direct debit form.
District Council wrote and said that HB overpayment was a priority debt and should be paid before other creditors - and sent me their own budget sheet to complete.

National Debtline advised me - to re-send my letter to Halifax saying that I will be putting the payment I am offering aside until they send me paying-in details. And that I should not panic about the District Council, because the repercussions of a HB overpayment are the same as for credit debts, but could send the budget sheet in if I wanted to - which I did. Let's see what Monday's post brings.....
