Some people get so rich they lose all respect for humanity.
That's how rich I want to be. ;)

But until then - best wishes - Mike.

The Panasonic website allows you to download the manual for their breadmakers, free of charge, as a PDF file. It's under the Customer Support tab.

It also includes all the recipes, including one for brioche.

I have this one, just arrived in my Breadmaker book (Im just waiting for the breadmaker to arrive now! :(

    Saffron Brioche

    2 tbsp milk
    ½ tsp saffron strands
    3 large eggs, beaten
    6 tbsp water
4 fl oz (125ml) melted butter, cooled
    2 tbsp sugar
    ½ tsp salt
16 oz (450g) strong white bread flour
2½ tsp instant or fast acting dried yeast
    melted butter to glaze

Bring the milk to boiling point in a pan, add the saffron strands and then leave until cool. Put this into the breadmaker bucket, then add the eggs, water, butter, sugar and salt. Then cover this with the flour and sprinkle the yeast over the top of this. Put the bucket into the breakmaker and choose the setting for basic white. When it has finished place on a cooling rack and brush over with the melted butter. Leave this for an hour at least before cutting.

For all you experienced breadmakers out there, do you think it would turn out ok if I omitted the saffron?

(MODS - I haven't copied the method word for word)

  • I was watching a TV cooking show this morning and the woman made brioche but didn't give exact amounts. It looked wonderful and seemed quite easy to do as it was all done in the mixer with a dough hook and left in the fridge overnight to rise. I sooooo want to make some but can't find a recipe like the one she used. She put in eggs, water, yeast, sugar, salt, flour and lots of butter at the final kneading.

    Hi Jane,

We have a very recent thread on making brioche so I'll merge your thread into it. The recipe that miketebb has linked to sounds very like the one you have described.

I love brioche bread and wondered if anyone has a good recipe they'd like to share.

I have had a quick search online but you can't beat a tried and tested recipe :)

    Cheers all

Yummy! I love Brioche too. In Sicily they put ice cream inside it and use instead of a cone - beautiful!
  • Nice looking recipe in this older thread - Brioche bread.

Haven't tried this yet, but all the family love brioche, especially dipped into hot chocolate à la française !

The recipe here looks fairly simple so will give it a go at the weekend!
