Mardatha and Ragz - yes it does make the most wonderful bread pudding.
When I made it at college we made a sweet dough with egg in it as well and then kneaded the softened butter into it after the first prove - very gooey, but fun in a mud pie kind of way:rotfl:0 -
I'd not tried it before and bought a choc chip brioche loaf from Aldi. OMG I ate the whole loaf (not in one sitting I might add but still......:o) and it was delicious. BUT not sure I could trust myself around it so have avoided trying to make my own

I bought a reduced one in Tesco to try and I spread it with Nutella, it was really moreish.
I kept thinking I had tasted something very similar before and realised it was a croissant.0 -
Its basically an incredibly rich bread dough, it makes the world's best eggy bread / French toast as well as bread and butter pud. I've made it before using an Ina Garten (barefoot contessa) recipe which took a lot of the work out of it as its all done in a mixer. However although it was amazing I recall something like 10 eggs  and half a pound of butter at least for two loaves. They did freeze very well though.:DI was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly
