AVG definitely works, as does Ad-Aware 2007 and ZoneAlarm.

    Don't know about the others.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.
  • The new version of Spybot is not worth it, imho. I don't know what it's like on Vista, but if my experiences with it on XP SP3 are anything to go by, avoid it. It's slow and buggy as hell.

CCLeaner works as well, for general tidying up.

Have had Vista for nearly a year on one laptop. Wish I had stuck to XP

  • Zonealarm really impacts on the system when installed on Vista - you'll find your laptop going really REALLY slowly!!

Yes it does. I didn't say 'everything'.

For most home consumers, just about everything will work.

I'm assuming you will have vista 32bit. If your laptop has the 64bit version installed, then zonealarm will not install.

And the difference between "everything" and "just about everything" is?

Here are a couple of starters...........my video capture card drivers, many versions of Nero Burning Rom, DVD Audio Ripper, TBI Viewer.

That's four on this system alone.........

    Why would that be?

I run it on a PC without problems and no apparent impact on performance:confused:
