Some people don't install the version for Vista.....0

The only thing I can't get to work is the PDF creator in Print Shop 15.
Avast, Open Office, Adaware, Nero. All work fine.
I wonder how many of the Vista bullies have actaully used it?It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
I run
Adaware
Spybot
SuperAntiSpyware
ZA
AntiVir (have run AVG without issues)
all run without problems on Vista 32bit. Ihave heard of people having problems with ZA but personally I've had no issues.
The vast majority of things work fine with Vista. If you find things that don't there is usually an alternative that does work.
As for Nero the latest version works and from memory I'm running version 7 at home without issues. Yes, older versions may not work but you can't expect them to make older software comaptible. After all they want you to upgrade. It's my problem, it's my problem

Hi F-G
Seems like you are running every av product available.. Make sure you get the latest vista compatible versions available. Vista has been out for over a year now so most the important apps have new versions available.
As a side note, I ran Vista without anything running just the vista firewall and a good AV product. Did not install anything else for a year and when I checked out with spybot it found nothing.0 -

did you turn off Defender as that is shipped with Vista and runs by default I think? It's my problem, it's my problem

Here are a couple of starters...........my video capture card drivers, many versions of Nero Burning Rom, DVD Audio Ripper, TBI Viewer.
That's four on this system alone.........
I find people like you absolutely hilarious. You'll bleat on about how X,Y and Z doesn't work on Vista and when the truth comes out, it's because the hardware is donkeys years old/cheap no-name rubbish and that the versions you've tried to install had Vista compatible updates released but you couldn't be bothered to go get them or expect a new OS to run 7 year old software and would rather whinge and moan instead.0 -

Just to put the other side of that argument, I tried to install a year old webcam on my Vista Laptop - works fine on the XP one.
Not compatible with Vista. Now that is just a nuisance, and to be honest I don't care whose fault it is, it is now my problem so I have to go and buy another one.
And why shouldn't new systems be backwards compatible and run old software? We all evolve - get on with it0 -

Because if Microsoft had to ensure that each new OS could run all the software/hardware from previous releases it would take even longer to develop, be an even bigger install and buggy as hell.
I agree it is a pain when a year old webcam won't work and as a consumer, you're right, it doesn't matter who is responsible. I've been lucky and had no bad experiences with Vista and hardware compatibility and only minor issues with software.
I still have a scanner somewhere that was retired when I went from 95 to XP. Exactly the same sort of thing happened then. It's my problem, it's my problem
