sim cards or splash plastic cards?

as hes on about the splash ones as they have a name on and if someone had one in your name they could pay cheques in that were stolen and take the money then you would be told about it and have to pay them back or explain why it wasnt you who did it and you sold the card on ebay.

gold / platinum numbers are basically phone numbers that are easy to remember - ie they follow a certain pattern or sequence eg:
    07xxx 123456
    07xxx 112233
    07xxx 100100

People are willing to pay more for them rather than having a "normal" number consisting of a random string of digits that is difficult to remember.

  • , maybe text a special code to get a certain freebie. The old mash potatoe freebie comes to mind. Also i remember seeing an advert in a magazine about a company that gives 5 free lines on the lottery if you text the number.

did anybody have any links to any of these:confused:

Someone on the other thread stated that it costs £5.50 with a Virgin Mobile (ie 50p for the text sent, and £5 for the text received) so it's no good if you've got the sims with just £5 on them.

Is anyone else able to verify this ?

    Ian

If you register the sim online when you receive it, you get a further £2 free.
  • It's simpler to set up an account at mobillcash.com . This allows you to pay your mobile credit into your bank balance - from any sim, any number of times etc. It's intended as a payment system for online merchants, but works just as well for this purpose.

It costs you nothing, but helps me :)

    what u on about ???

What he / she is "on about" is this: you order free SIMS. They come to your house, to you. The company (say O2) has a record of this. You sell the SIM on. Someone buys it. They use it to organise a crime / do terrorist stuff. The SIS (special inteligence services) monitors those calls. The calls are traced.

Who "owns" the SIM? Not you? Prove it!

Don't think this can happen? Think again.

Sim cards from 02 and other networks are allready pre-packaged and placed randomly within the envelopes.

They do not keep the records of these number sent out to the recipients of the free sim.

As for orange sims, there is no number sent out, you only get your number once the sim card has been activated.
