Shell (((Huge Hugs))) it can be difficult to explain to a child about losing a family member. I lost my mum in 2006 which was devasting. my 7yr old was also devasted more so because she said she didn't get to say nite nite to her. a dear friend suggested that my daughter wite her a letter and attach it to a balloon and send it to heaven so that her nanna could read it, this we did and i found it helped her very much, she understood that nanna could reply but in her words " at least i have told nanna how much i love her and she will be able to read her letter whenever she gets a bit lonely and miss's us"
I copied loads of pics onto a CD to place in DH's coffin **hate that word** sounds daft I know but I needed to do something. We also send balloons up to Daddy with messages on, although sometimes W doesn't want to let go of his balloon!Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
lol just PM'd you lil_me to see if you were snowed in!!:o
We had snow in May etc last year so nothing unusual, a friend of mine who was up from Surrey that week took photos because he said his friend's wouldn't believe him that it was snowing.
PinkFairy I would love the window open every night but my partner would go crackers! I can't sleep in a stuffy room. One day I might be more organised...........

I actually sprung out of bed
g&b and tia - on the subject of pashminas - hubby got me a gorgeous purple one for Christmas a whole year ago, trouble is I never know what to wear it with or how to wear it - I mean too hot for summer, too cold for winter, never go out dresy places etc so I have never worn it. Need some fashion advice please!!!i got a dress for my dads 60th
tia - others have probably answered your shall I/shan't I potty training question. I wouldn;t rush it, and thats from biter experience, we started DS too early and it took the best part of 2 years  Nothing worked for us, I did sticker charts to death, ignored it for months on end, bla bla bla. In the end it was just time and big school that sorted him out. I have to say I know the Gina Ford book works for some, but for me it has just , twice now, made me feel like a failure because I tried to folow it and they wouldn't play ball!
If you want to make a start I would just sit him on it a couple of times a day, maybe before lunch or before bath, or if you know there's a time of day he always poos do it then. Its hard when have a deadline for nursery, in fact I think that that is a dreadful rule. My son wasn't even reliably potty trained for proper school. If you put him in in nappies anyway they may just say they will call you in to change him (ludicrous, I know) but they shouldnt need to call you unless its a poo and I guess you'd be able to know if that is likely to happen.
With DD1 (3 and 2 months) we are sitting her on it every night before bed while she has stories, she quite often does a poo on it at that time so we heap on the praise etc. We tried between XMas and New Year - both me and hubs around all week, lots of new books and dvds to occupy her. Total disaster. We have now decided we are going to wait til she decides its time. She has another 18 months before big school and that is my deadline.Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

lil_me - re the periods whole bf thing, yes I suppose inj theory it could be that ? I hope not though!! She has about 6 feeds a day now (I canlt believe its only 6 seems like just yesterday it was about 11!) and of those 6 one is a bottle, sometimes 2. So I suppose I should at least be aware that they may start again soon, Havent had any spotting or anything and thankfully cramps were a bit easier today.Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

shell - so sorry to hear about your Nan-in-law ((( hugs))) to you and your family, its lovely though what you said about her being with Poppa and being happy now.
Well done on the eyebrows, I cry when mine are waxedits so painful I'd rather have the old bikini line done:eek: However your comment about the difference they can make has made me think I might treat myself
to a 10 mins of agony soon. Would also love to get my lashes tinted, my friend gets hers done and she always looks like she wears mascara though she never ever does.
Dusty - did you have any luck with the Simpsons cake ? If you made it post a pic please!!! I might do one for hubby's birthday in May, he is a big Simpsons fan. As we have DS, then DD1 and baby DD2 we say we are the Simpsons with our own BArt, Maggie and Lisa. And I say I have my own Homer :rotfl: well he did put on a stone over Christmas.
And OMG that poor boy's family..
likklegibbon - glad your Dad seems to have turned a corner
mudbath - I definitely want to get a trampoline. How much is a 12 foot one then ? As we have 3 littluns I figure we may as well get one that will last and grow with them. Hubs wants to get a Wii or something but I have put my foot down, the kids already are addicted to TV, PC and Xbox, they need something to entice them outside not to entice them t spend even more time in front of a screen.
tia - roses, wow, how lovely :T aren't they beautiful. No carnations or chrysanths either. See now gyp I like
jjef HAPPY BIRTHDAY :bdaycake: for Thursday, hope you had a great day!

would just like to say, by the way, that I've been loking for a parenting type forum for a few months, all the baby ones stop at sort of 3 or at most 4, and I dont have to look any more! This thread is so great for the myriad questions about school age kids as well as the younger ones.

oh woo hoo I was thinking I was only up top Thirsday night as the posts I was reading were dated "Yesterday" but of course its past midnight so "Yesterday" is Friday and I am on the last page THANK GOODNESS
I had a great few days following complete meltdown on Tuesday. On Tuesday night I was sat on the loo (again LOL) sobbing my eyes to hubby saying things like "Noone likes me, I have no friends, they leave me out of everything ......" etc etc just like being a kid again, and its total rubbish I have lots of friends though I do desoerately miss my friend thats moved away. Nothing horrible had even happened, it was just the end of a bad couple of days with the kids being little gits. Anyway since then I have done loads with my friends and had a very nice week.
Went to soft play with 2 of them today and bumped into 2 ex work colleagues with their littlies, one girl I hadn't seen for about 6 years in fact think the last time I saw her was at my wedding! Was so nice to catch up.Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

michelle - well done on mentioning the cut to nursery staff. I was going to say :T for your hubby getting so much done but then realised that noone gives us :T for getting stuff done and we all do it every day:rotfl:
Hope you enjoyed the wine!
lil_me I copy every post before I click Submit, in case I lose it.
Do you know if you have the cursor in the reply box where you write the reply and do control-a it selects it all then do control-c it copies it all so you can do control-a control-c and your post is copied. Very handy. I have got so fed up with losing posts.
AnW'sMum - you said about W not wanting to let go of the balloon, I was wondering how mine would be with stuff like that, thanks-god we haven't had to deal with any of this stuff yet, and I was thinking they would both hate to let go and would cry if they couldn't have the balloon back:rolleyes:
ha ha look the last half dozen posts are all from me, no other loon is still upJan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)
