Well Raspberry bushes are definitely bushes. They're quite dense. The tayberry is a bit more like a bramble. The fruit is longer and is a little sourer. If you pick it before the fruit is very ripe there's quite a hard core in the centre of the berry. If you're still unsure either post a picture of it or PM me and I'll give you my email address to send a pic to. I'm sure we'll work out what it is
Either way all soft fruit is good. I actually prefer the tayberries to raspberries. They're ear easier to pick and much nicer. My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

How do you tell the difference?
I thought it was a raspberry bush, but the fruits are not as soft or sweet as raspberries!
I'm now confused!!
Unripe raspberries will be hard & sour .... difficult, innitWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
We have a lot of raspberries too right now. I made a scrummy desert with some raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and redcurrants as follows: Put some sugar and gin in a frying pan when hot add the berries and heat until they start to pop and the juice colours. Serve hot with plain vanilla ice cream - I like the white McKays one.£2 coin savers club £42 (joined 2 May 2006)

Fancy saying such a naughtie thing twink!!
Quite envious of you having all these lovely rasberries. Local PYO charges £6 per kilo for rasberries/loganberries etc. Think I'll have to have a read up on growing my own and seeing if there's somewhere suitable in our garden for growing our own. Any good in pots/gro bags anyone know?

They really need to be planted in the ground. Grow bags and pots aren't deep enough. My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

Someone mentioned a raspberry trifle, what ndo you use to wet the sponges?
I usually make sherry trifle rather than the type with jelly. With the sheery trifle the fruit juice or sherry moistens the sponge.
Raspberries were cheap on the market today so I'm trying to decide what to do with them.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
I have a punnet that the use by date was 2 days ago, but they're not mouldy or anything just not really that fresh so I think they're still perfectly fine to eat, 250g - ideally I would like to make something simple with them.. possibly something oven baked like a cake or something whereby it doesn't matter that they're not the freshest.
Any suggestions please?0 -
You can buy a big tub of plain ise crean and try making your own rasbery ripple ice cream.
Or you can eat them straight. A lot of people like bletted raspberries. To buy or not to buy, need not be in question
