Hi guys
Was going to post a message to see if anyone can help with my question....then I saw this thread.
I have recently moved into a lovely house with fruit trees and have got a raspberry bush.
Well.....I say a bush...it is a long straggly thing that is climbing up the fence!!!
It is producing raspberries, which are lovely, but I want to know, if is supposed to look like a bush....or a long straggly thing???
Would really appreciate some help or suggestions, as to if and how I should prune it and when I can move it.
It needs to go at the bottom of the garden really...but obviously won't move it yet.
Many thanks for any advice you can give me.When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
Raspberries fruit on last years growth. New shoots come up from the bottom each year and these will fruit next year. Look after them. Move in the late autumn or spring. Cut off the shoot when the fruit has finished about 3-4" from the soil. They can get a bit long so should be tied up so they don't break off in the winter.Love living in a village in the country side0

Are you sure it isn't a loganberry ?
Loganberries look like this

They are a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry so act more like a blackberry - climbing up things.0 -
My Tayberry is like that, are you 100% sure it's a raspberry bush?My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

How do you tell the difference?
I thought it was a raspberry bush, but the fruits are not as soft or sweet as raspberries!
