Hi there guys and girls,

I have a big, big issue with O2 right now. I will try and start from the beginning in a hope that someone here can offer me some advice on what I can do and if I can claim some money back.

Basically I was on a £25.00 a month 18 month contract, it ran out in April. My bills were about £90 - £100, so after a lengthy discussion in April I went up to a £40.00 a month contract which offered me unlimited calls Saturday, Sunday & Monday, 800 minutes and 1000 texts. My bills were coming through and i was still having the same numbers £80 - £140... It was a very busy time in my life, I was moving out and working and didn't have Internet access so couldn't check my bill... anyway, I just paid it. I had two over £150.00!!!

December came (Christmas) and I got my bill... £268.00... I thought, wow... as I knew I had only made calls Saturday, Sunday & Monday and my text counter said I'd sent 1020 texts (so should have been £60.00!). I checked online and found out... they hadn't upgraded my contract. I was still on 200 minutes, no free weekends and 500 texts... I was shocked and really angry. I went to the store and they told me to phone the online support, online told me to go to the shop, the shop told me to go online... it went on for about 6 trips total, before I said to the guy online, sort it out or I'll cancel the direct debit.

After nearly an hour on the phone he said this month all I have to pay is £40.00 + VAT (My line rental and normal bill) - So I have been refunded that £228.00. However, this is one month and I've been over-charged every month since April, should I leave it as it is or should I try and take this further? Do you think there is substancial money to be claimed back???

Marc.

You should get the money that's owed to you. Then you can write to the CEO and maybe you'll get a £10 credit for your bother.

Do you have any proof of your original upgrade request? This will be vital in getting a refund.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • You should defo phone and get this backdated!!! I sure would be.
They can be quite good, they have charged me for 2 months of voicemail (which should be free) and because the charges on my bill include a few calls to some 0870 numbers, they are going to refund the total as they are obviously too lazy to deduct the 0870 numbers!!!
Im quids in....definately call them as its a lot of money you are owed.
  • Yeah definately try.

I changed tariff and got new phone in May which I also had to pay extra £20 for. The phone was faulty and in the end I had 4 of these faulty phones, and every time one broke I had to send it back and go back to using my old phone.

So i emailed the complaints dept explaining my dissatisfaction, requesting refund of the £20 I paid for the phone and refund of the 2 months line rental as I was unable to use the phone that I had upgraded my tariff for and reimbursement of the phone calls/postage. And I got it all credited to my account within bout 10 days.

  • Unless they put in a disclaimer, The fact that they refunded the last bill sets a precendent for how they should proceed. Definitely go for the refund!
