  • hey maggiebear - welcome to the mad hoose. Well despite being scottish, I think we are having fish fingers and smiley faces for tea to try avoid a spend day. Its absolutely peeing down out there.

Have a massive moral dilema. I know what the RIGHT thing to do is but i still feel myself waivering. What do you guys think. Ok, so my dd has a friend staying tonight as they are going to the local disco. Its about a 10/15 min walk away. It finishes at 10pm and I said i would give them money to get a taxi up the road. Costs £4. However, with the weather am also going to have to give them taxi money down! So that means spends of £8!! I just dont really have it. However, as the car finance company still havent been to pick up my car....i have access to it and could drop them off in like 3 mins. Problem is it has been declaired SORN. What would you do?

  • Spending £8 on taxi fares could be the cheap option if, by an awful stroke of fate there is a van checking plate numbers somewhere on the route - you'd get a fine for driving a SORN car. If for any awful reason you have an accident, you'd also be trouble, the insurance wouldn't cover you as it is SORN.

To relate a story of someone I know (well, friend of a friend) - 2 years ago a couple left the pub at 2 in the morning in a little village on New Years Eve. It was p'ing it down and he decided to drive the 200 metres to his parents house.

He was stopped, breathalysed and banned. For 200 metres in a little village.

    HI all,

Well today I'm keeping as far away from work as possible - we are having an Estyn (like Ofsted) inspection in the college next week and my line manager is very stressed and a miserable old moo. She hardly acknowledged me or my colleagues yesterday and phoned this morning to moan about some paperwork that wasn't on the database but luckily I was able to say it was someone else's and to basically sod off and bother the other person!

Only 24 weeks till my maternity leave, nah I'm not counting!

So, enjoying a lovely day with my dd who asked me if it was Spring time yet. Ahhhhh

I agree, £8 is a small price to pay compared to the costs involved if you get court

I hope you left them on your PC as well as - it's not a backup unless you have 2 copies.

Mind you, didn't think girls had dongles... ;)

  • Well done PAP; I'm still on the green one!

Well I'v spent this morning sorting out the shock from yesterday for an outstanding debt. It was horrible, I went to sleep sick to my stomach and woke up the same. But I've been in touch with everyone I need to be; I've written one super letter (honest and polite and compliant and cooperative) which everyone agrees any court in the land would side with; if they were to take it that far. Once I know more I will update my sig so everyone knows the dealio. Thanks for the kind words yesterday; an if it hadn't been for DFW I'd have had an ice cubes chance in hell of keeping myself together and dealing with this properly.
Just need to finish it up by five pm to get it in the post and I'm on my way to sorting it out.

I will join bum belly challenge as soon as I've finished the letters; I promise.
