  • Just going back to the twotty ex is there anything that can be done about you being liable for ALL the debt when he went bankrupt? Could some of it not be written off with him?? I'm sure you've looked into this but there is a bankruptcy board who may be able to help you to see if there is anything at all you can do.

Also do you have charges going back the last 6/7 years have you thought about putting in a claim for them?
  • Oh sorry ignore my last question until you're not so tired.

Sleep tight and have a good day tomorrow.

Morning all! What a miserable day in Bristol...rain and grey! :(

I spoke to a few people when all the problems kicked off and it was suggested that I pay it all off and then try and sue him! Sue a bankrupt? Don't think I would get very far there??? Some people said I should just do the same, but I wanted to try and sort it out for myself as have visions of me and Emily getting somewhere nice to live one day etc

I have a few bank charges in when I was charged £25 a time for being overdrawn after the muppet withdrew all the money out of the joint account before I could get the back to stop his card. I was meant to be the main signature holder on the account and I had requested it got shut down several years previous and gave the bank back my card, but as he refused to have it closed, they continued to let him use it. Could I try and claim them back if the account has now been closed down? When he went for bankruptcy, they made me pay off the several thousand overdraft and overdraft charges and had the account closed. I would have thought they would refuse as the account is now closed, but then I suppose it is worth a try...???

Well the money from my ebay sales a few weeks ago has finally cleared, £200! So have just paid that towards my Tesco card, which is great! Totting up moneys last night makes me think that I won't be able to pay that much at the end of the month, well not as much as I had hoped for as had underestimated one of the credit cards minimum payments but am gonna try my best! Off to make some porridge now as I am hungry! xxx

    Morning Donner

Grey, wet and gloomy here today too  It was lovely yesterday

As for the bank charges I'm not sure but there is a thread about it somewhere and you should def post and see. I mean just think how much you could be claiming back if you are allowed and it would be an instant reduction in the debt so always worth a try in my opinion. I know at the moment there is a stop on claiming while they battle it out in the courts but according to Martin on GMTV the other week he said you need to be still putting your claims in now. If Martin is involved in your progress over the next 12 mths maybe you could contact him for advice? I really would try and persue it though Donner its the very least you deserve back after much of the debt/charges are not even yours.

    Good luck

Morning, KM and Donna, I would definately claim the charges. There must be something morally wrong with a bank which allowed that. I cannot understand, that if they knew he was withdrawing funds and you had handed your card back, that they chased you. Well i can understand it, but totally agree you should claim every penny back.
I would certainly get in touch with Martin for advice on this one, as he is following your progress.

  • Morning BOB :D

Donner I've just had a quick look at the Bank Charges thread (it has its own main thread if you've not noticed, I hadn't) and it makes no difference that your account is closed you just follow Martins steps as normal for the claim.

Also apart form the recent credit card charges have you had them in the past? Maybe you could look into claiming CC charges too?

I know you've got a lot to do already but this could end up a good debt busting project if they made alot of charges.
