Sorry wasn't about for an update last night...spent 2 hours trying to watch Prison Break Season 3 episode 1 on my 'puter....I am a huge Prison Break fan but haven't been able to watch any of Season 3 due to it being on Sky. I managed to find a site to watch it on, but was taking forever and in the end I went to bed in a huff! Just been out to DD's Dance Production this evening and just got home. Had a bit of a rubbishy day today, went out on a girlie lunch and brought lunch and really resented spending the money...and the food was mingin anyway. Oh well, at least it was a one off I suppose. There was once a time when I would have thought nothing of it but now I am soooo money obsessed I it when I have to spend money! Me and my boyf have decided for Valentines Day to eat in at my house. He is gonna cook! Should be errrrm interesting! Only joking, he is a great cook! I am getting the wine and some dessert and he is sorting out the main course. Quite chuffed actually as haven't been buying any wine etc so that must be saving some money...was times when I would get through several bottles a week...but not now! It's water all the way! Can't wait till payday. Have hardly any money left till then as has been a tough month really. Well, I should hopefully be ok. Not going out anywhere this weekend as spending Saturday watching Bristol Rovers on the tele and Sunday will go out for a run and if the weather is good, might get Emily to help me out in the garden or something, to get her off of the computer and outside in the fresh air! Have been trying to think of free things we can together as I am getting concerned at the amount of time she spends on the PC. She hardly watches TV now we don't have cable so that's good, but it seems like she has swopped to the PC! It's times like this where I wish I had money so she could go to clubs etc and be out doing stuff with her friends...mayber one day in a few years...I hope so!:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0

Not that i am encouraging child labour or anything but, can you not get your DD to do a door to door candy round?
I can't remember what age you said she was but i remember when i was about 13 or 14 and i done a candy round for a few months so that i could get money for the summer holidays. My dad had just been paid off and my mum had given up work to look after my eldest sisters baby so money was practically non existant.

Oh forgot to say, have applied for a Abbey credit card. Will be interested to see if I get it...hope so! Fingers and toes crossed! Have been looking at things and hopefully all being well, by April time I will have enough to pay off of the Barclaycard so that would be 2 cards out of the 7 sorted! I know they are the smallest amounts but that is all good...it's a start! Really need to get some more bits on Ebay...have been meaning to do that over the last fews days, but has been one thing after another recently! Won't be up to much for the rest of the weekends this month as my boyf is off on his snowboarding holiday so won't be about so me and Em's can hopefully spend sometime sorting out the house etc as that will be good as it will be a help...and it is free! I have been thinking about getting a roster going too. When I was younger and brought up by my dad, he used to do everything! When I left home, I had no idea whatsoever as never did any chores etc! So would be good to show her how to try and run a home and do things for herself, e.g hoover her room...when we can find the floor that is! I am gonna get an early night tonight as am still feeling shattered all the time. Convinced this is food related and keep saying I must sort it out! Gonna try and do a 5 mile run tomorrow, whether it be out on the roads or at the gym on the treadmill. Need to do more exercise and help set Emily a good example. One thing we haven't done for years is Swimming. We have a pool about 15 mins away so will try and find out how much it costs. Sorry rambling now! Right I am getting ready for bed! Take care, love to all xxx:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0

:rotfl: I can't believe that I am giving computer tips on here. I am probably the biggest technophobe on MSE. This has really tickled me. I honestly haven't got a clue how to do anything. Gawd knows how I even got that tip.
Sorry Donna. Back to your diary. Sounds as though you are really determined about saving money. Well done hun. I'm sure that you will have a really special Valentine's dinner. Your daughter will learn by your (responsible) example too so please don't worry about her missing out. You give her the important things which aren't material. Take care. X EDIT crossed post !Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -
Ha ha! Well done you! I am very determined...just a shame I wasn't several years ago, but then I had my ex in the frame and there was no way I could ever get things sorted when he was about! I hope we do have a good Valentines Day me and the boyf! It's hard now as trying to watch the pennies means I can't just go out and spend money like I used to, but keep on thinking that a few years from now, my life is going to be so very different and I can't wait! I really hope Emily understands why I am doing all of this. I love her so very much, she makes me so proud! Watching her at her dance today made me think about how much her natural dad has missed out on, she makes me so proud to call her my daughter. I am very lucky, we get along so well and I really hope it continues that way! But give it a year or so and she will probably hate me! Those hormones...oh dear! xxx:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0
