And is it really worh police time checking the handwriting/fingerprints? Nothing was stolen, no-one was injured
It could very well be a police matter:In law an assault does not have to involve physical contact. An assault may involve a threat alone, however there must be the prospect of the threat being carried out immediately and for the victim to fear that the threat will be carried out immediately.0 -

Exactly - nothing needs to be stolen or someone injured for a crime to have taken place.CHEAP doesn't mean ETHICAL0 -
end of the day a visit from the police might make him consider his actions a little more carefully in future.
if i had a note left like that i would most likely have been out trawlling the local streets to find the car & owner0 -
I can't beleive people are saying report this to the police
It's just one piece of paper that was on your car, you don't even know who wrote it/left it for you
If this was very recent the police could view the CCTV just to be sure. They could also ask to see a sample of his handwriting. I think they would take a written threat very seriously.0 -

I think we can safely say who it was that left the note.
We still don't know what it said, but if it contained implied or actual threats against me or my vehicle I would certainly report it to the police.
Turning a blind eye to this arrogant behaviour merely encourages it.0 -
Report the moron I would 100%0

Yes you can, and more importantly, yes you should. The big, brave lad will happily do it again unless someone has a word.
What if it subsequently turns out that he has previously carried out such a threat, and your evidence of the note and his licence number is just what the police need to link him to a crime. Sure, it's pretty unlikely, but stranger things have happened. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
i am sorry to sound really nosey but what did he actually say in the note?0

Wasn't this the "stumper" thread? I was searching for the thread "where I came up with the new word "stumper"" couldn't find it and have eventually narrowed it down to this one.
Has someone edited this thread?0 -
