Hi Savvy_Sue, thanks for your post. Pleased I didn't upset anyone. I do hope we didn't scare the original poster and hope sincerely he goes to the doctors to find out facts as soon as possible. I wish him, and you, all the luck for a speedy recovery. Maybe we should swap notes about neurosurgeons :D <--My attempt at a joke :rotfl: :rotfl:
That's the spirit! I hope you'll like this story. They had a series called Brain Doctors on HTV earlier this year, which despite my normal squeamishness I thought I'd watch as it was filmed in the hospital I'm going into next week. They had a range of exciting problems, all far more serious than mine, and one of the consultants cheerfully told the camera "One in four of the people I see don't make it." I turned to my son, watching beside me, and said "It's OK, he's not my consultant."

Then the surgery I was waiting for was cancelled because my blood pressure was too high - no-one thought to check it six months ago! After waiting and waiting to be told when my op would be re-scheduled, I finally spoke to 'my' consultant, who said he didn't know when he'd be able to operate, and would I mind if he referred me to a colleague who had agreed in principle to operate within six weeks? No, I didn't mind. And yes, you've guessed, Mr One-in-Four is now my consultant!

There's a lot of evidence to suggest that laughter is healing, and even brings blood pressure down (although not if you're roaring with laughter when they take it), so I hope you find things other than what happened to you and its aftermath to laugh about! I'm planning to take Hitchhiker on CD into hospital with me ...

That's a great story Sue, but don't forget 3 out of 4 DO MAKE IT! So, the odds are fantastic in my opinion. I have always believed one's attitude aids the recovery process and gets the body into fighting spirit. Laughter is good for the body and the soul and as a person who used to be called 'smiler' as a knickname, I am learning to laugh at life's misfortunes. My consultant expects a full recovery from me, and every time I see him he is smiling, so I am not too worried. Everyone who has dealt with me at both A+E when I was originally taken in, to the doctors since then has said I am very brave to get through it all. I am not brave, I just like breathing :rotfl:
Let me know how you get on.....

Oh I know my odds are good, especially as he usually does more difficult ops than mine, so I'm hoping to get a really good result, plus I'm going to improve his odds as well. Just over a week till I go in, will be missing for a while.

Where's the OP gone? Do hope he's OK and not forgotten we're all fantastically interested in his lumps ... :o

Please go to the doctors. Ten years ago my brother found a lump on his testicle that turned out to be cancer, he was treated, cured and he's fit and healthy. Early detection and treatment is so very important.
The majority of lumps turn out to be completely harmless but it's much better to put your mind at rest.

But have you seen a doc yet?
My 20 yr old son had a similar lump earlier this year. After seeing an out-of-hours GP (female!), he was admitted to hospital in 2 hours! Happily it turned out to be an episode of epididymitis (infection of tubes) which responded to antibiotics. Untreated it can lead to scarring of the tubes resulting in loss of fertility.

    I haven't made the appointement.
The thing I had planned for Moday, I wasn't able to do until Tuesday.

Everything's a little behind at the moment.

Can't go at all next week because I'm really too busy.

    Will do it soon.

Ooh! I feel like giving you a telling off! ;) you should try to fit it in and prioritise what should be important etc. It's not my place to lecture you so I won't, just try to make an appointment as soon as you can. Are you feeling okay?
