    Free range eggs

Comfortable shoes have a pair of Uggs that I've lived in this winter and Flyflots for summer.

    Eyptian cotton bedding.

Sausages, has to be at least 70% meat

Meat, trying very hard to go organic.

Bovril, ALWAYS have to have a jar in, delicious on toast, nothing else quite hits the spot.:D

Good quality food - proper meat and veg, organic if we can get it at a reasonable price
    Andrex toilet paper
    Oil for heating the house
Good quality food for the animals (doesnt have to be branded just decent)
Real coffee (although I go to Aldi for it as its cheaper there) not instant
Persil Washing powder as me and boys all have sensitive skin
Shoes for the children - it HAS to be Clarks or Startrite, huge argument with OH but now 12 years on he can see the difference between properly fitted shoes and how his feet look now.
Organic milk - its like real milk used to be

Oh and Kitchenware - have tried cheap pans and they dont last, sometimes its not about how little you spend but the value for money you get out of it ;)

BRITISH meat, 'proper' sausages and free range eggs.
  • Interesting thread! I consider myself quite flexible when it comes to being MSE and I'm always willing to try new things and compromise where possible, but I suppose the few things I'm insistent on include:

Heinz ketchup - no own brand tastes the same
Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner - wierd but I find it's the only one that 'works' on my hair
Palmers Cocoa Butter - Slightly addicted to this, but it's so good and worth it
  • I have three.

    (1) I have my hair cut & coloured professionaly every 6 weeks. My hair is thick & grows very quickly & always said I was never going to be anyones grey haired old granny. Used to have it done every 4 weeks until recently but have had to cut down to save money but would NEVER give this up.

    (2) If it is cold at home I have the heating on. Not to excess but I wont freeze just to save money. Would rather cut back in other ways.

    (3) Sausages. Don't eat that many but when I buy them I always check meat content etc.

Think it is very interesting to see what other people value in their lives.

Butter - will eat a few brands, but won't downshift to margarine (yuck)

Tea bags - prefer Yorkshire, but will drink PG if that's all that's available. Rather not drink tea if I had to drink a cheap one.

Oh, and cooking fried eggs (or on the very rare occasion that I cook chips) in lard/dripping. I don't use vegetable oil.

Plain milk - can't stand that longlife stuff.
  • As natural as possible, bunny friendly toiletries. I never ever buy brands that are in any way related to animal testing. No Body Shop, no Original Source, no supermarket brands. I basically stick to 4 companies for toiletries and perfumes, 3 of which are quite expensive.

Cat food because she is relying on me to keep her healthy and I take that responsibility very seriously. I will only buy food that has a high percentage of meat and no grains.

I'm also a coffee snob and only buy whole beans from the man on the market. He's popular so they are always fresh. My boyfriend once threw some Sainsbury's value ground coffee into the trolley. I told him it was a waste of money and it'd taste like Baldrick made it but he insisted. Well, it tasted like Baldrick made it. Revolting. I turned it into a body scrub instead :D
