It Pays To Watch Freecycle Experts Needed

I know some freecycle groups do a 'meet n greet' day where you can bring your offered stuff to a stall in town centre & are welcome to take something you need . Members help in shifts (voluntary) helps raise profile & some people don't want strangers at their own home.
I have offered some items on freecycle, not all were taken.
I, in turn, have taken some good things ... & a knackered rotary washing line which I should have given back to the woman & told her to take it to the tip herself. (sorry rant over)

What a brilliant idea, a pity it doesn't happen in my area.
Just wanted to say that I am ever so grateful for freecycle, I managed to pass on some things I didn't need any more but most of all, now when I am in real need, expecting my first baby I got a lot of baby stuff from good people and will pass them on later on.
Though must say that I got a few things I had to take to the tip and was unpleasantly surprised that someone offered sth in such state0 -
I love freecycle...
We've given away a pile of magazines,
a wooden play house,
a garden slide,
blender,
box of mugs,
a broken sewing machine (said it was broken and still had
people wanting it),
box of toys,
fabric pieces
and we've received cork tiles, a duvet set and bag of fabric,0 -
Freecycle is often a good value entertainment source too - thanks to the way some people put up their offerings. My eye has just been caught by:
:eek:OFFERED - Grey leather !!!!!!

Our freecycle regularly (3 or 4 times a day) has offers of 'boxes suitable for car boot' or similar. Freecyclers know people can and often do make money out of the goods.
But even if they're sold on their not in a landfill so the end result is the same.
I emptied my old house onto freecycle and filled much of my new one in the same way, it's a great place xxDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
I use it quite a bit - tonight I'm waiting for someone to collect a heater that we've had in the loft for ages. I've only ever had some xmas baubles off there for the office (someone dropped the box - oops!)
It is a great idea, I don't know anyone who's kitted their houses out though. Some of my friends use it when they keep moving with the forces.
I think it depends on where you live and the time of year to what gets put on there too.
Hope this helps2010 - nothing as we emigrated to Australia!!! :j0 -
In order to register at Freecycle, do you have to have a Yahoo email account? I know I could register for Yahoo, but as I already have three email addresses, don't really want another.
Thanks for information0 -
libra10 it doesn't have to be a yahoo email addy, have a look in the settings on membership page. When I have replied to post on freecycle not everyone is @ yahoo (I'm not very techy sorry) I did get spam though so don't use your main addy

Hey who cares if Freecycle has some dealers in it, this is also the case of every jumble sale and boot sale in the country.
If I am interested in getting rid of something that I don't have to bother trying to sell and that is in my way/outlived its usefulness, who cares where it goes as long as it gets re-used?
Why have a go at dealers, after all these are people who are doing a useful job (unlike so many council workers and civil servants - I should know, I was one of them!) and getting paid for it, making a living through free enterprise and not submitting to some dreary office job. Good luck to them I say!
Likewise, why have a go at Martin if he is using HIS OWN site to make some publicity for himself? I am so grateful for this website, I have recommended it to all and sundry and if I can help Martin in any way I shall do so, if he run for government I am sure he would do a much better job than the bunch of moppets in the major political parties!
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Well I suppose it depends what they're "dealing" in!

PS. On a more serious note PLEASE don't reignite the ML and "own site" debate that was going on earlier on this thread. It was put to rest, and doesn't need you stirring up again - please.0
