Wasn't it brilliant? I screamed and laughed all the way through the first time, it was just so unexpected!

The first time I thought "I'll just see if it's going to be too much for jnr", and I nearly managed to give myself a heart attack in the process. The second time was even worse, I spun round 180deg, and couldn't see where I was going.. Only where I'd been!! :rotfl:

Did you do a little dance ... or was that just us? :o :rotfl:

lol, no, you're not alone. We adopted surfing positions, hurriedly trying to regather our composure the very instant the lift doors opened.

:j :j Nope - we danced too - all TEN of us at one point - surprised it didn't break :j :j

For anyone who has yet to go - the lift in the Alton Towers Hotel is MUCH better than the one in Splash Landings (it's just off reception, round to the left) again, we squeezed 10 in to experience it (up and down, make sure you stop off on each floor)!!

We spent the Saturday evening in the Alton Towers hotel - they had some entertainment over there and TBH the thought of spending the evening in the stuffy water park was a bit much for us.

We also went out for dinner on the Saturday and would thoroughly recommend the pub on the crossroads in Alton for good home-cooked food and lovely, friendly service.

We enjoyed it although thought the hotel etc was a bit rubbish underneath the gloss. I would have been cross to pay full price - more Butlins than Centreparcs if you forgive me being a bit snobby. The breakfast I thought was just OK - cheap not very nice food. We didn't eat in the hotel because of this altough I believe the buffet in the evening was better.

We ate at the Star Inn that was recommended earlier in the thread and told them they were on here which they were chuffed about. The food was fab - home cooked and delicious and loads of it and it was nice to get out of the hotel for a while - we went foor a drive round the countryside is lovely out there.

My boys loved it though, the lifts were fab and we went up and down in them for a while singing as we went! They had their faces painted and balloon swords made and they made their own T Shirts which they wore in bed last night!!

All in all we had a great weekend thanks to the OP and would definitely go again next year if they do it as cheap.

Yep, that's exactly what we did too. :D The first time we were all is hysterics though because we weren't expecting the music and all of us just burst into spontaneous dancing. :D

I knew it! Every time a group came out of the lift, they were always smiling so I guessed it had the same effect on everyone. :rotfl:

There was definitely a snack bar in Cariba Creek and I would have thought you could also get something from the bars or possibly the restaurants.
also are you able to get into Alton Towers Hotel free.
Yes, there's a walkway between the two hotels so you can use whichever facilities you prefer.

Probably better to be surprised ... I wouldn't personally describe it as exciting but it was certainly a bit of a surprise. :D
