there seem to be as many "ithcy feet" types as "LL has to sell" types in this thread - most interesting

    between 1995 and 2001 I had 9 addresses

the perils of full time academia and short term lets.

never particularly bothered me though, as all moves were planned well in advance, and some of them were physically only a few hundred metres.
    It's a health benefit ...
  • While at uni I moved every year but after that :-

Moved into a shared house in October 2000 and stayed for 6 months - LL decided to sell the house so was evicted

From March 2001 to December 2006 I lived in a large shared house with dirt cheap rent - it was great, no real problems. Various people came and went but I stayed. The rent barely went up over the time I was there and any problems that did occur were sorted out quickly. Eventually I left when I bought a place with my gf.

The last 4 (!!!!) houses before our current one, we have had to move out of after 6mths each time as the Landlord has put the house on the market...
We have been in this one for a year and are looking to move in the next month or so, of our own choice for once!!!
We hate the uncertainty, and do want to buy, but I am not prepared to buy in the current market (but thats a whole different story!! LOL!!!) so we are just putting up with in and tucking our cash away :)
The worse thing is that for the last month you are expected to allow prospective buyers though your home, which is hard, particularly when you didn't want to move out in the first place!
.... if you don't like what I say, then don't listen....

We've been here nearly 7 years. We were in our previous house 2 years, until the LL moved back to the UK and wanted to move back in. Before that, we were in a house for 21/2 years - the place was falling down, including death watch beatle, mad LL and I had enough, so our choice to move out. Finding properties for us is very difficult, with 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats and 5 chickens. Also, moving seems to be very expensive.
  • One bed flat for a year with OH (whilst we got the hang of living togther!)... Soon grew out of that one!!!

Two bed flat in a charming area (headless body found across the road.... Head found on car park of local supermarket for a year and a half - Issues with landlord / agent and we wanted to move to OH's home town

A 3 bed house for a year and we though we were settled there... then bloke acting a agent (don;t ask!) came round to tell us that they owner wanted to sell....and wanted us out asap (rolling contract) so we found this place. Have been here 2 + years and landlord has indicated selling desires (and we have buying ones!)

So 4 places in 7 years - Not bad at all really in light of what I've read!!!
