In total i've moved 42 times in 41years:eek: Like Vamp, i get itchy feet, though as i get older i'm finding i stay a little longer in each place.
The last five years i've moved 5 times, twice because a LL wanted to sell up, once because of the 'neighbours from hell' and twice to be nearer schools/work.
I may have to move again soon as i've had to report the agents to the council for not providing a gas safety cert, even though i have asked many times.

But this raises a good point. Research your landlord a bit as well. Find out why the house is available to rent. If its a professional landlord of 10 or so years then no problem.
If its someones first new build btl property then don't expect to be there long!
If it is two people moving in together and renting out one their houses there is a distinct possibility that their relationship won't last.0 -

On what basis do you think this makes a difference?
I recently started renting out property (1 1/2 years ago) and have two wonderful tenants who I have no intention of asking to move on and they say they are happy to stay for some time. I dont meet your criteria of 10 years as a BTL landlord.
It's quite possible that BTL LL's with properties of more than 10 year may wish to take advantage of the high price, prior to a possible crash and with legislation changing in AprilIf it is two people moving in together and renting out one their houses there is a distinct possibility that their relationship won't last.

It makes a huge difference due to the landlords expenses and outgoings. The chance of financial difficulties is much higher for a new buyer compared to someone who has been a landlord of a property for years.
I'm sure your finances are in good order (your on this site after all!). But a lot of people who brought on a two year fixed deal will struggle to find a good deal when their term is up and they may already be loosing money. Hence the chance of financial difficulties is much higher.
Yes my post might be pure speculation, but it is also based on probability and the chance of a landlord running into difficulties when they owe 95%+ of the property value and the rent struggles to meet the repayments is far higher than when those who owe 50% of the property value and the rent covers the repayments with several hundred left over.0 -

First house the landlord and his partner split up so they wanted their house back so they had a place each. Second one put the rent up too high for me to cope with so I moved. I since heard from my ex neighbour there has been a high turnover of tenants in there since. Next house the landlord wanted to sell up. The next house the landlord came back from abroad and need his house to live in. The next house the landlord wanted to sell up. This one the landlord is abroad and I’ve been here 6 month and counting…
That’s 6 houses in 12 years – phew – might not sound too bad to some people but unless you live like this, it’s hard to understand the lack of permanence and the effect it has on your life.
Just brought this thread back up to the top I've jsut been issued my notice as my landlord wants to sell.....here we go again....0 -

I'l share mine....
Since I moved down to the Midlands I have lived in 4 different places.. first off I moved into a flat but after the 6 month initial contract was given notice as the landlord wanted to sell the flat to his mate.... next I lived in a shared house, the landlady was a totally nutjob and after 10 months I gave my notice - if I hadn't she would have evicted me or started charging me extra rent for my boyfriend (she was convinced he had moved in as the neighbours reported seeing him carrying a suitcase into the house - we were actually going on holiday that night for 2 weeks!). I was prooved right as the week after i moved out she served notice on the other two tenants living there - the reason given was erecting a satellite dish.... next I lived in a flat for about 12 months before the landlord gave us a months notice - she wanted to move her recently divorced mum in... then i moved into the house where i live now -so far so good!
mm all sounds a bit eventful - maybe that is not normal!!!
We have moved quite a few times too....
Feb 2005-Feb2007 in one house then
Feb 2007-Aug 2007 in another house (landlord wanting to sell)
Aug 2007 - Feb 2008 in yet another house (landlord again wanting to sell)
Now we have bought a house because we're sick of moving, especially with a toddler!!0
