I honestly can't remember now, they have been deleted out of my past posts now. Probably having a go at acehole, which shames me to say! As that was what he wanted to achieve (taking over yet another thread)
The only thing I can suggest is shutting them upstairs if you are going to be opening the door, but that doesn't help when you want to open the door to get into your house. Tough question. I will be thinking about it all day now, until I find a solution0 -

I was in a houseshre and my housemate brought home a kitten that we had to keep for a week or so. It was brand new. But I got some little cage-style plastic balls with a bell in for it to play with. Whenever I wanted the kitten to go somewhere I could chuck one of those and it would instantly stop what it was doing and go chase that.
I could use this to get the kitty into/out of any room/place I wanted it to be or not.
One day the kitty sneaked out of the conservatory door and was standing looking around. I grabbed one of the balls, chucked it in the conservatory and the kitty chased the ball.
So it would be good to identify anything that the kitty can't resist just in case. If you spot a kitten outside in the road and try to retrieve it, you might scare it to run off etc.0 -
Also, see if you can get some folding gateway/child stairgate/similar that you can just prop up by the door. Perhaps cover it in net curtain. Just creating a fake 2' high "hallway" of sorts that gives you the time you need or in case you forget. Just enough to be able to come in from outside, with shopping, and put the shopping down the other side of the barrier.
Just room to stand one side of and answer the door if it knocks.
Not something fixed. Maybe even one of those tri-fold airers if you have one.
Only needs to be 2' high. Just to stop a dash for freedom.0 -
does the whole house lead off the front room -ie kitchen, stairs. I'm just thinking that shutting them in the kitchern or upstairs while your out might help until they have learnt NO - you think you will need to find a way to train them somehow at least until they get get to be [STRIKE]lazy[/STRIKE] older cats
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
emmmm all cats bury their poo lol I don't think so, if they can be taught to poo why do they do it in my garden ???? my obligation is to my children and keeping the garden free of animal mess
OMG I thought this person was a kid!!! Listen lady, instead of wasting your time posting your ridiculous bullsh*t why don't you go into the garden and clean up the cat sh*t if you are that concerned about your kids instead of trawling through these posts just to be hateful. Get a life.0 -

Thanks, but yep, unfortunately the whole of downstairs leads off to the front door, no doors anywhere downstairs except to the loo, and it's tiny so wouldn't want to shut two cats in there all day. Upstairs does have a door at the bottom of the stairs, but at the moment they're not allowed upstairs, as I'm a bit allergic to cats and I want to get used to them before they're allowed into our bedroom or on any of the other beds etc. I don't think there is an option other than to try and distract them by throwing something and hoping that distracts them long enough is there?0 -
lol tortie, so it's ok for these vermin cats to defecate in peoples gardens, we know what type of pet owner you are.0
