Also does anyone feel like a 'shoplifter' walking about the store getting vouchers from ACM, paying at diff till to get the till slips, up & down escalators looking for bargains etc.
    I certainly do.

boxing day i went to boots and the perfumes were half price then, including euphoria so in my local(newport) most of good sets gone by now!!!
  • is it worth paying extra 2.55 for next day delivery as ive just looked and next day is coming on friday whereas standard is not till next tuesday thats like five days

I have found that i get my order pretty quick when i have been ordering recently. I placed an order yesterday which was dispatched last night and will be here tomorrow i imagine.

What i would say though is if it is something you really really want then it may be worth paying the extra to make sure you get it as i think they give stuff out based on when they are making the order up rather than when it was ordered IYKWIM. I came about this thinking as i ordered a Lee Stafford hair sets last week at 5.57am My mum then went on to order one near 6.30am and i never got one but she did. Her status were also updated before mine. I could be wrong though.

could we possible have 2 threads one for instore bargains and one for online?
    nilrs

I'd love to see 3 threads: instore grabbits, online grabbits, and a spare one for chat. There was an online sale thread, but the 2 soon got muddled.

For a while I have read this forum but particularly this thread has I love shopping at Boots. For personal reasons took me a while before I felt I could post etc. I'm not sure cliquey is the right word for people on this thread but one thing that has surprised me is how many people's questions including my own go unanswered and seem to be overlooked.
In defence - I'm not a regular here, I just flip in and out, and sometimes I ask a question, then come back later the same day & so many pages have been filled I cannot find any answers posted therfore have not been able to say thanks (or get the answer!) as this is such a fast moving thread!!
Ive asked questions on here and most when ignored except for one, yesterday i asked a question about postage and it got ignored. I feel that as im a newbie to this forum that people don't want to know. I may be wrong in this. I have found the help on here very helpful thou. But i don't understand why someone would order three or four simlar items so they can decide between them and send the other ones back. What about other people that really want these items. Im not judging anyone and am pleased for people when they get bargains. I just feel for people when they can't get things they really want then you read that someone got three of the same things just different design

About the growth of this thread and its chaotic structure (no glitches here, so you can move on if you're not bothered):

You're all absolutely right!! The questions seem to go unanswered nowadays in this thread... I personally believe it is because it is getting extremely long very fast. I've been reading and participating for about 10 months and it has never been this chaotic. I understand that old and new mser-bootser may feel discouraged by this chaos. I feel discouraged as well, but keep coming back, since I know this will all be over in a week's time. After the 90% sale it will all calm down. We will go back to calmly talking about potential glitches, trying them out, reporting the results, helping the newbies, etc. I was going to suggest that perhaps one of the mods suggest a colour system to distinguish posts (shopping baskets in store and online, glitches, questions, ranting about the online offers, etc), but I'm pretty sure in a week's time this will calm down.

I do apologize for not helping more, but the questions get buried many pages before and I don't know if someone has answered. Personally I'll wait some days for the thread to retunr to normal, otherwise, I think I will just keep up with the first post that crazyposhgal updates... which is a poor forum experience compared to what we've had so far (it would be like reading the other bargains at mse). As she's mentioned she has to read through all the posts to update the first one - don't forget to thank her to boost her stars (it doesn't cost us anything, but it costs her a lot of time and effort keeping this thread acessible to everyone).

Sorry for annoying you and taking this off my chest, but I really think this forum used to be much more welcoming to newbies... I know that because I was one 10 months ago.

PS: This has been suggested by wendym, but I believe we should wait for the forum to calm down before making drastic changes to it, otherwise we might end up with disconnected threads since the offers are related. and you can't dissociate chat from bargain hunting, which in Boots is more of detective work based on previous experience, so chatting about it is part of finding the glithc!! I'm not sure what the "older" bootsers think of this?

  • Also just wanted to say that i will answer a question whether you are a newbie or an old time bootser, to be honest i don't look to see if you are new or not and i doubt many ppl will.

The problem i have is that when I'm shopping/working etc i come back and read through every single post (20 pages worth at times) but while doing that i have to take out any info for the first post so tend to forget questions by the time i get all that done. I do try though.

This was a fabby friendly thread where ppl posted bargains and could have a moan about sa's/ security guards etc. It does not matter whether you are a newbie or not everyone is welcome and treated the same.(or should be)

    Edited -
Touching on what Pcg said above this thread does move fast i went out shopping for one day last week and came back to reading 27 pages to make sure i never missed anything. I also try to send a pm to any Boots newbies to welcome them and let them know they are free to pm and ask me anything if they are stuck, I'm first to admit i have not done this for a couple of weeks now but only because was out most of last week due to my oh getting holidays and i have been trying to get some normality back in my house since the kids went back to school.

Maybe we could put a short note in the box along the top of you post to say if its glitch, chat etc for the meantime and bold it. Just noticed Pcg said this, i think its a fab idea for the time being.

Wow you lot are so dedicated !
I mainly do Boots instore and haven't done many online orders. How does this 5.30am think work ?
Does the website suddenly update or something and then you quickly add to basket and check out as fast as your fingers will allow ? !
Do you have to keep refreshing the pages to update or somat ?

Any advice would be welcome :D and well done for anyone who managed to order, and commiserations to those who didn't.
Basically, yes! That is pretty much how it works.

does anyone think that the xbox, psp, kodak camera will be on offer in the stores?
Can't seem to wake up for 5am!!
I have no idea but if they are in stores I wouldn't expect them to last long as they'll be snapped up quickly.

I've never bothered with the next day delivery. If my order is less than £40 then I usually try to top it up with essentials that are on offer like shower gel, toothpaste or nappies to qualify for free delivery. My orders have been reaching me within 2days, much faster than usual. I did have something arrive the next day too which was free delivery.
