I often enter comps for tickets even if they are some way away but with the intention of turning it into a night away for example. I won tickets to the theatre last December but then couldn't go as Fiance wasn't allowed to use any hols that month (we didn't know this before hand) I offered them on here but noone seemed interested so I sold them on Ebay - but just for 99p or something daft like that. Hope they had a great time
As PMS said I do sometimes enter for a main prize and then win a runner up prize that I didn't want if that happens then more often than not they get put away for prezzies. I must say around half of our Christmas prezzies we gave out were prizes!!Saved us a bunch!

Hi
I was just wondering how many competitions you enter? I have only won one thing this year and that was for a competition I entered last year. I seem to enter loads but don't have any wins. I know it is all luck, but surely luck has to be on my side soon??? lol

I tend to only enter comps for stuff I (or someone I know) would like to have. I love the idea of winning some clothes, shoes, money, computer games and DVDs etc - and especially one of those prizes that money can't buy or something to tick off my "list". It is a shame if people just enter anything regardless of what it is, but I would imagine that most people do look at the prize and think about what they would do with it if they won.
About the ending lists... I guess I am still a newbie then seeing as I've only been on here and have less than 150 posts or whatever it is, but as I think I may have mentioned before, I don't use them that much. I checked them every day when they first started but don't tend to anymore - just go through the forums looking for things I want to win (I always thank those to do produce those lists though even if I only find one I shall enter).
This has turned into a long post... sorry!
Edit: just noticed it's 165 posts... wasn't a bad guess!!!Life is all about the journey.0 -
Does anyone know if the answers for Pick Me Up mag are still being posted or have I just missed the last couple?
Cheers

I don't suppose it matters talking about it really... the people who enter things they may have no intention of using just to say they won would never admit it anyway
...as for the ending lists I think they are an excellent idea. People spend a lot of their time putting them together and even though I spend a lot of the day entering comps there are always some I miss it seems.....
...and people can't be really lazy and just use them either to enter every comp as remember a lot close before their 'official' closing dates...seen that a lot recently lol...:j A-well-a bird, bird, bird...b-bird's the word :j0 -

OK today I've been thinking outside of the box and realise that the creation of the Competitions Ending (CE) threads is an expression of the state of the comps board in general. Let me clarify by sharing some things I've learnt by looking at every page over the last week.
The CE threads were only created as a means to create some kind of order that doesn't currently exist. Now that might come as a shock but let me explain.
We have been for some time labelling comps with an expiry date. It seems however that many users are doing so in an ever increasing different way. From E:14/02 to e140208 to e-14th Feb etc etc.
If this was somehow kept in check to a single unified format there would be no reason at all for these CE threads at all. You might all be surprised to hear me say that!! People could simply change the forum order they view in from the default 'Last Post' to in order of 'Thread' by a simple click. If you go HERE and look at the headers of the columns under 'Threads In Forum: Competitions Time', any of those you can click on to change the order in which the forum is displayed. This is indeed the way I have been able to quickly compile CE posts but it has been hampered by the varying ways people write the expiry date.
If we were to stick to a strictly policed format then it would solve the issue on the spot. I would be only to happy to volunteer my time to notify people when the standard slips though appreciate this is at the Board Guide's discretion.
