  • Come on everyone. Reality check.

This forum is more popular than ever before. Martin's been on TV regular like all this year and there's been a steady increase in the amount of comps and the amount of people in general. Did you see how SERIOUS that guy on episode 1 took comping?

We are rarely all going to see things eye to eye and that's what makes a forum community incredibly exciting and ever evolving. The more people that we get here - exponentially you'll end up with more you disagree with (and of course equally more you AGREE with).

If you miss the fun of comps then just maybe you've been doing them too long? I've just been doing them a year and I still just about wet myself everyday. Did you do the Zombie thing for Resident Evil? It was flipping hilarious!!!

Have you checked out the Compers Inn? It's incredibly supportive and fun in there. Only just a few days ago we were dazzled in here with Elton John photos that sprinkled just a hint of fairy dust over all who spotted them.

As for the comps posts. Well they are essentially a list. 200 pages of some pretty serious work. Those who have helped recent Mac Air comps know exactly what I mean. :T

:j If you're after fun here.. then BE the fun you speak so much of (like it's a dead and gone thing). All this talk of how comps are no fun anymore really gets me down :(

I believe the atmosphere on here has changed, I like entering the comps but I really liked the banter and people were really helpful, now there seems to be a lot of arguements and bickering which is really sad. Its all become just a little bit too serious.

I like the 2008 challenge but I do agree that some people are entering anything and everything, I have seen in the I won section people have won ticket events that are way out of the area they live in so couldnt possibly go, I risk getting shouted at for saying that.
I just hope the board goes back to the way it was a few months ago, fingers crossed ;)

This is what I do not get either and I try and not enter nothing either me or my family can go to.
There choice i suppose though if they cannot use it then silly

It's something I've been noticing for a few weeks now, I think the best thing that we can all do is just continue to be ourselves & try to ride through this. I've noticed the large increase in 'won tickets but can't go' in the I won forum & agree with what has already been said.

I am really hoping it's like the gym just after new year - really busy as people join & stick to their resolutions, ignoring the usual rules of the gym & queue jumping to get on equipment first, taking cups of water to the equipment when the rules say you mustn't but they think they know better, the ones that simply have to do so many repetitions on the equipment or they won't get their money's worth etc I hope you know what I mean? ;)

But by a month or two (perhaps three for the real stickers that don't want to break their resolutions), most of them will have given up & look elsewhere for their fun :D The 'gym' settles down again back into the usual ebb & flow of people who come for fun, banter & maybe a few prizes if we are lucky :)

Kind of a weird analogy to use but I think you can follow what I mean? :)

Come on guys, I've had such a laugh since I bumbled onto this Comps forum last July, I'm sure that it can be that way again. I've shared laughs, disappointments, announcements, pain & tears with people on here & I although it is a little hard to see right now, those posters are still here, the fun & the personal problems are still there, just perhaps not so heard over everything else going on right now.

Stick around folks, if we all try together to keep the friendship & fun going then it can :)

PS - Apologies for the rah-rah, inspirational tone of this post, might be that I'm doing an address at church later on this evening, it might just be that I'd be sad to see any of you go anywhere else :o
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

really hope things settle down as this is a great part of the forum, why enter comps that u know u cant go to, i dont do tickets or hols for 2 people as its not worth it, best leave it for those who are in true need of it?

I don't really enter many competitions, but am thinkin of giving it a go.
Do people use their regular email addresses, or create new ones just for comping?
    Thanks,
    Em

Either or really. When I first started , I used my regular email address, but was advised to set up a comping only one to catch any spam. I did this, but after a while I found I wasn't getting much spam, so went back to using my regular one.

Just recently though, I decided to start using my spare account for comps & freebies again. It's up to you really, whatever works for you.

Good luck with your comping :D

I think I may set up a new account just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the advice :-)

Do you organise your emails into folder?
