I probably enter around 20 - 30 a day, sometimes less but not often.
I only enter the ones where I actually really want the prize, not always big stuff but often books and dvds.

Surely you would want to win a car, lots of money, ps3's, tv's, holidays......or maybe i'm just obsessed???!!!
Seriously though, the odds of winning are much higher (obviously) the more comps you enter.
I probably enter around 100 per day. I enter the majority of comps especially the biggies - family holidays, money, cars etc also the childrens comps (I have 2) but there are quite a lot I don't enter, mainly ones for concerts/shows as they are mostly in London and also holidays for 2.
Do you enter the daily, weekly and monthly comps?

  • I don't normally go for the dailys etc, seems to take me forever, even with Roboform just to do the normal ones.
I do enter for the big stuff too, if it's something I would defninetely use then I go for it but if I don't like a band I don't bother to enter for a CD etc.
When I first started I remember reading about someone who had won a cotton bag and various other small stuff and figured I really don't want to heap my house with stuff I don't want or need. But the LCD tvs, cars, fridge freezers, dishwashers, laptops etc etc yes please!

Obsessing about remortgaging and interest rates all day, every day:)

Sometimes you do get some rubbish through the door but thats mainly from winning runners up prizes. I've had shopping bags and things like that from comps where I had entered for the main prize but had won one of the runners up prizes! I wouldn't have entered to win one of those as a 1st prize!
I think really the only advice i could give to you is to maybe try and enter more comps every day, theres plenty of choice on here for all tastes, and just keep your fingers crossed. I've been doing this for over 18 months now and I had my first big win in January ( a cooker, hob, hood, splashback & accessories worth £3000). For the rest of the time i've won various different prizes ranging from a box of herbal tablets to 5xipods, le creuset set, diesel clothes, ds lite!
    Good luck!!!

Can I just check something else too? Do you get email notification of prizes? Or calls? Or just stuff through the door?
How did you hear about your big wins?
I'm guessing things like CDs just drop through the letter box?

Oh, and not directed at anyone in particular - I REALLY like the comps ending..... threads, they were really helpful!

The majority of the wins i've had have just turned up with the postman - which is normal. I've had quite a lot of winning emails from various comps, the only letters i've had are from real people mag. I've had no winning tel calls. When it comes to big wins such as cars, holidays and cash the majority of the times they will send a letter or phone you.

Im really upset with the mser who copied all the quiz answers for the macbook to google newsgroup, i know a few of us spent 5/6 hours of our comping time working these out, yes people lurk, but to copy them and take them as your work is way out of order, ive reported it as you cant copy something off here without Martins permission, something to do with copyright. In fact i was so annoyed i reported you as you used your own email to google and mse,and i left you a msg on your other comp forum .

It might sound petty to some, but its all that effort we put in for her to do that , that riles me x
    Anyway rant over x

   I'm mad about that too, I've never copied from anywhere and spend hours on google searching for comps for here!!
Someone copied from here to another site before and got moody when we reported them, it's totally not on. I hope you reported them to both sites!!

I don't think they have been done :)

I believe the atmosphere on here has changed, I like entering the comps but I really liked the banter and people were really helpful, now there seems to be a lot of arguements and bickering which is really sad. Its all become just a little bit too serious.

I like the 2008 challenge but I do agree that some people are entering anything and everything, I have seen in the I won section people have won ticket events that are way out of the area they live in so couldnt possibly go, I risk getting shouted at for saying that.
I just hope the board goes back to the way it was a few months ago, fingers crossed ;)
