  • Sorry I wasn't aware divadee had already raised the sticky. I've only sent a PM to select regulars who are currently not posting using divadee's method. Sorry but it's a fact.

For the record here's the message I pm'd:

Thanks so much for all the posts that you regularly submit to the 'Competitions Time' forum. It helps ensure what is here at MSE is amongst the most up to date and helpful of information on the web.

My reason for writing to you this morning is that you are amongst the greatest contributors to this particular part of MSE. And I hope to ask you to specifically adhere to our board guide 'divadee' rule on expiry dates. You can find it in post #2 here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=24817

We've all been a little slack on this over time (even ME!!) and there is currently a large number of different ways of doing it incorrectly. From e01.03.08 to E1/03 to March 1 to E 0103 to e ; 01/03 to E: 01-03-08 etc etc etc. We have to pull in the reins!

So to clarify the correct method is E: (space) XX/XX .. (eg E: 01/03)

It was this morning announced that the board guides wish to do away with the Competitions Ending threads recently peppering the board. The 29/02 post will be the last. Taking this into consideration, I'm hoping you may think of altering any of your comps threads that currently don't adhere to the format from the expiry date 01/03 forward?

The stricter control of expiry date input will assist users that had become reliant on the Comps Ending thread, the Board Guides and general users simultaneously.

I personally thank you for taking this on board.

    Stay Lucky!

    Thanks korkythekat.

Didn't mean to spoil it for anyone - took the mag on holiday so completed most of them - just missing a couple and wanted to post it off before I forgot.

:rotfl: I'm one of the culprits, missing the " : " out, I hadn't seen the sticky, so was quite pleased of the pm. I've changed them all now. Does everyone know how to find all their postings :rotfl:
If you start to go into it, there is a lot to learn about this forum. I for one can only take in a little bit of info at a time before I get a mind block ~ must be old age :o :rotfl: so need to read a little, put it into practise, and then read a bit more. It really doesn't help when computers have a bib & braces strategy i.e. 10 different ways of doing the same thing. Diagrams always help.
If I ever seem to be over simplifing anything in an explanation, its because I tend to be a bit slow picking things up nowadays and hopefully, without patronising anyone, maybe help someone else.

    End of ramble:D
  • It wasn't some name and shame so apologies if you felt singled out folks.

As far as I'm aware hjb123 changed theirs over the weekend?
toniq's don have the space after the colon.

I know it really sounds pedantic but keeping it strict will make all the difference.

If you're one who hasn't been putting the space in please do it from now. I clearly didn't DEMAND everyone change their posts. If the space is all that's wrong then personally I wouldn't bother going through changing them. Just keep it mind for the future.

  • I am chilled out. If you notice. I didn't go for the BG job as they're welcome to it. Grief like this today I'd rather do without on a regular basis!! :rotfl:

It's the reactions to me trying to assist the BG's in bringing about some order that aren't so. Loads have already PMd back and I thank you for you all for your understanding.

This has been a contentious issue for a long time and I don't mind an inch putting my neck on the line to finally get it sorted. Plus I'm wearing my crash helmet today! ;)
