thanks for that monsieur, very helpful, Ill start using it that way too now
    Weight Loss - 102lb
  • On the whole that works but it's also grouping together ones that end (for instance) 21/03 with 29/03 because they both begin with the 2. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Cheers for this monsieur

☼ thankyou to all who post the comps ☼
  • No that's right. You'll see that people are using an ever increasing way of writing the expiry date.

From e01.03.08 to E1/03 to March 1 to E 0103 to e ; 01/03 to E: 01-03-08 etc etc etc. This is what currently is the spanner in the works but easily fixable.

I am currently PMing the biggest contributors to the comps to have them ALL use divadees specification (eg. E: (space)XX/XX) rather strictly. This will then leave a smaller volume that will needing notifying, potentially as they are spotted.

  • I am so sorry If I offend anyone here though feel there is no need to pm anyone if there dates are entered wrong! Divadee has this morning explained it all and put up a sticky so from now on in hopefully most people will do correctly and read this before putting up new threads,as Kipper had to kindly point it out to me when I started doing them.
I feel pming them is totally going overboard and no need for it ,a little reminder on there thread maybe that they should take a look at Sticky then fine(politely done)but pming absolute no as it could put some people off coming on here and as been said it is a friendly comping forum not a job.

End date convention is here and has been since 2005

If people took a little time out to read the stickies before they take the plunge into the big wide world of comping, then we probably wouldn't have half the problems we do, but unfortunately they don't so we have to give a gentle nudge in the right direction occasionally.

PM'ing people is a bit OTT and could be construed as being a bit rude as its not coming from an "official" source

A simple post on a thread saying the end date needs to be put in/amended etc would suffice, the BG's may pick it up and change it themselves and if worst comes to worst it gets put in Game Over

    kips :)

p.s M_E there was no need to PM me I think I know how to post a comp ;)
  • I don't think its the regular posters who need reminding (even though some may not put the date correctly!) its the new people and infrequent posters who, as kipper says, don't read the stickies first.

    NOW IN COMPING SEMI-RETIREMENT! :D

  • Kipper & littleholly please don't take offence.

I'm only doing this to have everybody use a uniform method. The majority of people aren't doing it as divadee asked in 2005. The quickest way to get it fixed is to notify the largest volume posters.

If we all keep to a strict method then life will be easier for everybody. To be honest I don't have issue with how it is currently. I'm only hoping to rein everyone in to a strict uniform format so ALL can find things easier.

Please don't see this as a personal attack.

    YAY Well said! :T

I'm sick of how regemented (sp) this board is becoming, what with PMing people & instructing them how to post comps, & all the PMs to the board guides everyday requesting merges& tell-taling about chat threads that "should be in the main discussion thread" (- which is now mammoth & as soon as posts are put in there, they're swamped)

This board used to be friendly & relaxed - it isn't any more.

Comping should be fun, an amusing little hobby & some people on here need to chill out or they're so gonna give themselves an ulcer. :p
:):D Tightwad. And proud of it! :D:)
