No harm done Tom (op) seems to have taken this in tongue and cheek
Every time I see this thread makes me hungry, its not fair to those who have thing for chocolate0 -
Well I aint gonna laugh at the dude for it and shame on everyone who has, yeh it's only abit of chocolate but how many other of you would be happi buying chocolate fully priced thats outta date.
My advice, ask them for compensation, HMV guarranteed me christmas delivery for my item and cause I didnt get it which meant I had to purchase an extra gift intime for the big day I asked if I would be getting any kind of compensation, and they credited me with a £5 E-Voucher.
You dont ask then you'll never getI've Gotta Star!!0 -
Can't say it would enter my mind to ask for compensation for out-of-date chocolate or any other food unless I'd had a really bad reaction requiring hospitalisation caused directly by that food.
With the compensation culture that is developing int his country all that is going to happen is that prices will go up and up and up - and we'll all have to foot the bill.
Food that is sold illegally is a Trading Standards matter - and should be reported.
You got the free chocolate. Enjoy that. There's more to life than getting upset by out-of-date chocolate.
(btw: if you'd had it in your kitchen cupboard would you have eaten it or thrown it away?)0 -
That's quite simple - I would have given it away as a gift to my lovely neighbour on her birthday.
How about that?
It goes without saying that I would have also concealed the expiry date.
You don't want to upset your neighbours, do you really?0 -

I myself was commentating on the fact that the OP is saying that they SHOULD have been given compensation. Why?
Compensation Nation.
Ummm, so what your saying is that on this open forum (your words) I can't point out that in my opinion (is that allowed on your open forum?) the OP's questionWere they not supposed to offer some sort of compensation as well?
could have been answered (using your own exact words no less) without the ridicule and mickeytaking.
How does 'were they not supposed' become 'they should have'.0 -
It is ALWAYS worth asking for compensation.
I once bought a packet of crisps that were out of date by four YES four days!!! Obviously I called Trading Standards, my local MP, Watchdog and the FBI. Within an hour the shop worker who sold me them had been sacked and then twenty minutes later the shop was burned down by an angry mob. After a quick trial at the Old Bailey the company involved had to give me two brand new Kappa tracksuits (one black, one blue), two crates of Sunny D and Sky TV for life.
ALWAYS ask, or if in doubt phone Crimestoppers. You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...0
